  1. I wonder if a series of trailers/Directs/presentations over the next five months would be a smart way of doing things in this day and age of social media. It would keep the conversation going constantly with new bits of info revealed every month until release, and have people talking about it much more than say the usual big blow-out with everything on the table then not much else after that till release. Just a suggestion really...
  2. I'm sure they've learned from that godawful Wii U trailer. I hope.
  3. I'm not expecting a software lineup to be shown till the full reveal, including Zelda, but who knows.
  4. 180 glorious seconds, I wonder if a "perfectly running" Mario NX will be the (only?) game they show off...
  5. It's been a year and a half and people are still speculating about NX, not only that but the graph is trending upwards. The fact that Nintendo haven't said a thing and it's so high on the buzz graph is a good thing. That doesn't mean it's not a positive thing for Nintendo, expected or not, and hard as it may be for some to accept. HYPE!!
  6. It proves people are talking about it and have been for a long time. Call it curiosity, call it buzz, call it hype. It's generating a huge amount of all three without Nintendo even saying a word, let alone revealing it.
  7. Yeah, now they just have to live up to all the hype in the reveal...
  8. Astounding given how they've barely said two words about it.
  9. Having a larger portion of the map on the top screen on 3DS is very useful, I was constantly checking it on Vita and it was a chore to keep opening it up.
  10. The current NX thread on gaf is comedy gold. Everyone there was counting down to a potential 3pm announcement; the replies when Nintendo trolled everyone by tweeting about scanning AR cards in 'Disney's Magical World 2' at 3:02pm were hilarious.
  11. So what do we reckon, will they give us a couple of days notice for a Direct or will a video suddenly be up on YouTube? I guess a live conference is out of the question now, sadly.
  12. Those are very nice gifts, tough to choose between the coasters, mug and coin tin. The t-shirt...
  13. You won't be disappointed, so much fun
  14. Am I the only one sad enough who waits till the end of the intro music before starting a play session? It's so good!! Audio
  15. Be interesting to look again the week NX releases and compare the two then. Or perhaps the day Nintendo actually announce what NX is... in 2019?? Sonic is a bit of a joke though in the industry. Their games these days are synonymous with shit, whereas Mario has always been top quality if nothing else. But for sure the point still stands, at least Sega has something, they just mess around with their one big IP.
  16. Absolutely. All I was saying is that they have well known IP at their disposal, and it's a strong foundation to have.
  17. People have been calling Nintendo consoles niche? I wasn't aware of that, especially given the Wii sold 100 million, the DS sold 150 million and the 3DS 60+ million.
  18. Considering 20 million people signed up to be notified when Super Mario Run is out, I think there's a fair few interested in playing his latest adventure. It's impossible to argue that Nintendo's catalogue of world recognised IP isn't a good thing. They're in a very fortunate position of having such big names under their umbrella.
  19. Not sure what Youtube and Netflix have to do with anything? Ditto WoW (really?) or Overwatch. VR maybe, though I think it's very niche culturally speaking and will die down very quickly once the initial buzz subsides and people have their fill of the tech and lacklustre launch games. The truth is Nintendo have been basically on lockdown for two years and have had nothing to excite the world with, until NX is revealed hopefully. Then of course there are big occasional hits like Pokemon Go, the Super Mario Run reveal (the release could be huge), the Prime Minster of Japan dressing up as Mario for the 2020 Olympics, Zelda stealing the show at E3 + the insane queues for that, not to mention their plans to release animated films, the Universal Studios theme park etc... They're very fortunate to have IP that anyone in the world would recognise, and that's a very strong position to be in.
  20. I never suggested the general public were hyped by a codename. I'd love to see the statistics for that, were you looking for 'NX' or 'Nintendo NX'? Maybe compare the two when Nintendo tweet an NX logo and nothing else, see which generates more buzz.
