True, what happens if you're playing of an external hard drive and then yank the Switch out. I think the dock likely does something though, it's far too chunky looking to just be an HDMI connector/charger.

At the very least the dock has two USBs on the side so you have to imagine it'll let you connect an external hard drive. 32GB would be a big shame but this thing is probably costing a lot as is, so if they have to cut costs somehow to get it at a good price so be it, especially if they have data that most people play games off retail cartridges. I'll be buying an extra SD card regardless. We're assuming it has an SD card slot of course...

I was thinking about storage last night. I suspect this will be one of the bits of "bad news" together with price and battery life. Obviously we'd all love 500GB in there but that's not really realistic especially since I imagine the majority of gamers won't use the on board hard drive and just get their games at retail. Presumably there has to be an SD card slot underneath right? Like the 3DS. If that's the case how much space can you see this thing coming with out of the box? Personally I'm going to say it'll have something like 64GB. Not enough by any means of course but I think they'd want to keep the cost down and then offer the option of expanding to those that want it.

All of those were released at a time when Nintendo's big developers were at work on Switch games, hence the filler content. Sure we could have seen F-Zero or Wave Race in there, it would have sold just as badly, and would have been just as rubbish. Wait till Switch hits and Nintendo have one platform to develop for, it should mean revisiting some old franchises, and they can put some decent effort behind it....

I'm looking forward to seeing what sort of innovations this thing has in terms of software. Things like Miiverse or Streetpass. Actually come to think of it, Streetpass would be PERFECT for the Switch! Maybe update and expand the functionality a bit...

Apart from the Eurogamer leak (which I'm starting to think was a deliberate ploy by Nintendo) and given how many people were involved in that trailer it's remarkable more wasn't known about it before release. Nice to have a few genuine surprises.

Miiverse was such a clever idea and a far greater innovation than the Gamepad/asynchronous multiplayer. I'd love to see it return for Switch, maybe reworked a bit.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Switch UI and menus. Colin Moriarty and Greg Millar from Kinda Funny made a good point that Nintendo need to get the bad news out of the way early, and then build the excitement again after that until release. Leaving it late will only damage hype and could impact sales. 'Bad news' ie. battery life, price, onboard storage etc

I think you're thinking of Stamps but I agree with the rest. I enjoy achievements on PS4 until I realise that apart from increasing the play time they don't have any use whatsoever and grinding for them just became silly. Nintendo calling their version of achievements 'Stickers' would be great if they were nicely designed and let you decorate your home screen or profile page with. That's a total guess though but it sounds like their kind of style.

I really hope they include some kind of achievement system, maybe call them Stamps or Stickers or something Nintendo-y like that. It would be good if they could make them more useful than PS4 trophies which don't really amount to anything. Maybe they could unlock MyNintendo rewards or if they go with Stamps or Stickers you can use them to decorate your home screen or user profile page.

I can imagine optional Joy-Con controllers designed around specific games, maybe even with alternate button layouts that make sense for that particular game, although that's possibly a stretch. If nothing else I'm sure they'll release coloured Joy-Cons so you can personalise your Switch a bit.

If Switch takes off like Wii did, they certainly will.

Very weird! I realised Nintendo had nailed it when halfway through the video I noticed I had a big smile on my face.

My main hope for this is that they fix the Battle Mode and give us a proper one. Given the multiplayer benefits of Switch it would be big bonus for the game.

Calling what we've seen of this game "disgusting"? An overreaction?? Nooo.... It's nice to see some love for 3D Land and 3D World. The latter is probably my favourite 3D Mario game, though I do agree this one seems a half way step between 3DW and 64.

It's going to be very hard for Nintendo to condense a year a half of hype, speculation, rumours, "leaks" etc into three minutes and have it live up to expectation. Here's hoping they manage it.
