There's somewhat more to a journalist's job than relaying press releases, funnily enough. Personally I think it's a stretch to call leaking game info "journalism", but that's just me and probably a topic for another day. Fine be thankful for them leaking confidential info, so they can get a few slaps on the back on social media, just don't be surprised when a company doesn't take too kindly to it.

No but it deters others from doing likewise. Why should she be welcomed with open arms, sent copies of games early and be invited to press events when she leaks confidential info about a company obsessed with secrecy and surprise? As I said, I suspect any big company in the world would do similar, and probably much faster.

That sounds exactly right. I'm sure she doesn't think she's done anything wrong. It's just that no one can blame Nintendo for blacklisting her.

She herself admits no surprise at being blacklisted, which says it all really. You're right, she doesn't have any duty to keep their secrets, just like they have no duty to keep her on their press list. Any tech or entertainment company would do the same.

It's not childish in the slightest. I'm surprised it's taken them this long to do it tbh. I kind of wish the leaks would stop, I'm trying to avoid as much as possible but it's not easy.

Mario and Zelda within 3 months of a console release, yes please. Hopefully they'll have a good Christmas game lined up as well.

More like 12 months later, rumour says it'll be on Switch later in the year, the usual time the 3rd game is out.

I know gamers are one of the most entitled communities around but HOW on Earth is it two fingers up to the Wii U crowd ??? No one is forced to do anything. The Wii U games aren't going to suddenly stop working and remove all the fun you had playing them from memory. Now I'm not saying they shouldn't be a bit cheaper than full priced games though with added content that's another questionable idea.

Sure, but it's not as if MK8 was lacking on Wii U. It was a fully featured game that was very well received with lots of (cheap) DLC. The Switch version may be a little cheaper for everyone but I don't feel like they owe me anything with this re-release. It's a very different situation to them slashing the price of the 3DS shortly after launch.

Why would Nintendo offer Wii U owners money off the Switch version? Since when do companies do that with re-releases, let alone re-releases with so much (rumoured) extra content.

Hmmm will there be any surprises left by January? I hope the Eurogamer leak tomorrow isn't a big one.

I loved Skyward Sword too but the sky was meh and having the overworld segmented like that was such a disappointment.

I didn't mean £16 on the dot, but yes a big 3D film will often be that much in London. My point is, something that will entertain you for hours is worth a few quid surely.

£8, half the price of a cinema ticket, the cost of a lunch or two, for hours and hours of entertainment. Seems fine to me. The race to the bottom for mobile games is really sad to see and I'm glad Nintendo are bucking the trend.

It's probably a stretch, but I suspect deep down that maybe, this might have a bit more quality than those free endless runners filled with ads and IAP that litter the app store. Maybe.

Splatoon is so good it deserves to be in as many people's hands as possible. New single player content makes me very happy too. Good to hear confirmation of Skyrim and 3D Mario at launch.
