YEAh im going to try and change the capacitor, cas within tn seconds of switching the power supply on it is noticibly hot.I dont want to risk leaving it on for too long , incase it blows. If i just get teh voltage and farad rating off of it should that be ok if I get another capacitor with the same voltage and farad rating?

Cheers man. yeah i had those wires plugged in (except the The USB and firewire ones for the case. I assume they dont have to be pluggeed in) Ok i wont short the capacitor then, Im going to try and get a replacement though. Does it seam odd to you that it is only one capacitor and the surrounding area thats geting hot,when the rest of the board is staying as though the PSU isnt even plugged in?

no € 110, but i really wanted this to work Any suggestions on anything i can do to get this going again? There are no visible burn marks or anything on the mobo. Ok i jsut noticed that there is a capacitor down near the mobo chipsetthat gets really hot, when i turn on the psu, even though the PSU fans doenst turn on. Do you think if I connect the two capacitor pins then the pc might turn on??Or will somehting blow? sorry about the crap quiality.

OK so heres the deal. I just bought a pc(without HDD) Of a guy in my town. The thing is ,it wont start up. The guy I baught it off said it wouldnt start up when here tried but said it was something to do with the power button not being wired up right. I now know that the power butten does indeed funtion correctly as i used it to start up my old (crap ) pc. the new pc's specs are as follows AMD athlon 64 3200 512MB ram OLD 40 gig samsung HDD from my old rig. Radeon 9600xt epox 8kda (supposedly) 400 watt psu. When i attempy the turn it on , absolutely nothing happens<not even the fans spin up, even in the psu. However. i was pullint out the mobo power leads while the psu was still on (obvoiously i didnt realise it was still on) Once i had taken out the 4 pin connecter, and was in the process of taking out the 20 pin power connector the trouble shooting LEDS turned on for a second or two.What do you guys recon? Does anyone have any ideas? I think it may either be that the POwer supply is not strong enough.Or that the MOBO is fried.

I dont intend using the VC feature either but by not including the shell they will from the word go be limiting the amount of developers wanting to develope for the console.

Ok well i have been getting more then 1.5 Mb/s before( even though that is around what im getting now). The highest speed i have had has been 4Mb/s but that was when NTL had the line open to a 10 Mb/s speed. Now that they have pulled it back to a 6Mb line the top speed has been around 250KB/s. I suppose i could buy an ethernet card but monay as always is very tight. Yeah Jordan i am in Ireland and NTl here do a 6Mb line . It is their fastest line availible here.

That MP3 player that the OP was talking about has been out for ages ,but only in japan (and possibly the US) known as the play-yan . the recent announcement was basically saying that they will release over her( ie europe).

Everyone who is against the shell seems to be forgetting that if it does not ship with the shell it will turn alot of 3rd part developers from bringing games to it

Yes that picture does actually make it look lesss uncomfortable,but only slightly. Asyou said trying to use the sticks on that seems liek it could be quite hard. also if it has GC style shoulder triggers they will be hard to opreate with that shape.

Ok i have my broadband connected via my usb cable, im just wondering if my connection might be bottlenecked because of the usb connection. My broadband srevice is NTl 6Mb My PC is as follows 800mhz P3 512 MB ram 30 GB hdd's integrated graphics. creative sound card. I would recon that i have USB 1.1 What kind of USb support do you think apc that old would have?

yeah. I also hope they change the design fron the one previously shown as it looked extreamely uncomfortable to hold as it was basically an elongated circle with no handle kind of feature , it looked quite style over substanceish.

I would have thought if they are going to bother putting memory into the controller that they may as well put a decent amount into it, so that it can be used for fairly snazy things.

Sorry to the mods if this has been done already , i havent been here ina while. Im just wondering who would like to see the Wii ship with the "shell" Personally i would because i fear that if it does not ti will close the door for alot of developers if they want to try and bring games to the Wii. Thats just my oppinion . What do you guys think?

That really seems like such a small amount of memory to store such important info on.

^^^ its a ptty that there arnt more then one SD slot .It would have been cool if you could put a few in to give the console a decent amount of memory.

I ouwld have thought it can handle the first underground at minimum settings anyway.

you would be better off getting an internal HDD if you can.
