The panel hides GCN controller ports and memory card slots:

I quess the OMFG!!!1! news will be revealed at E3 but maybe Iwata has some little tidbits ready for GDC. I´m not expecting too much since it´s still basically a conference for developer, not for big news. But I´m sure there is a pretty high possibility for new Zelda trailer... Or at least I hope so.

Every Wi-Fi game can be free but publisher has a possibility to add a fee if they want so. It´s completely up to developer/publisher. Tony Hawk for DS is developed by Activision and it´s free. Same thing with Bleach DS and Lost Magic (developed by Sega and Taito). I doubt many games will have a monthly fee. Keeping online up and running won´t cost a lot for the publisher because every Wi-Fi Connection game uses Nintendo´s servers. And Metroid Prime 3 is published and developed by Nintendo. Retro Studios is a Nintendo studio just like any other studio they own (EAD, NST, Intelligent Systems etc...) because it´s fully owned by them and it has rights to do games only for Nintendo systems.

New interview with Mark Rein of Epic games.
Twilight replied to DiemetriX's topic in Nintendo Gaming
What a weird guy... Maybe he just realized it´s pretty stupid to go against any of the big three (Nintendo, Sony, MS). You never know who´s the next market leader so being an enemy with one of those could be a suicide. -
It´s looking pretty good for Nintendo: http://www.gonintendo.com

Found this from Gaming-Age Forums: http://www.ga-forum.com/showthread.php?t=83449 Not a big suprise (since EA propably releases this for about 20 systems...) but still, good to know.

Clover Studio: "we are really interested in the Nintendo Revolution"
Twilight replied to Twilight's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Let´s just say that he has been here for a long time (from the ancient times of Cube-Europe) and has always been very believable. I have never seen him being wrong. -
I´m still not buying this... Any other media hasn´t said one word about this. But BicTac´s words are promising. Can´t wait to see how PES turns out (if true).

Atsushi Inaba (Clover Studio / Capcom) Interview (in french) : http://www.jeux-france.com/articles_dossiers244_interview-viewtiful-joe.html Revo-related quote translated into english : What do you think about the Nintendo Revolution ? Do you think that a Viewtiful Joe game could work with this console? Atsushi Inaba : It is clear that we are really interested in the Nintendo Revolution, so we hope to create a game for this console. Now, if the Viewtiful Joe characters and the Viewtiful Joe world fit well wih the specs of this hardware, then we could indeed create a Viewtiful Joe game on Nintendo Revolution. But if it doesn't fit, we will try to make the best game that we can on Nintendo Revolution. --- Okami would be ideal for Revmote... Make it (or some new IP) happen, Capcom!

I doubt it... I mean, why would Nintendo announce something like that now? If Silent Hill 5 really was a Revo exclusive, E3 or some event like that would be the place to say it.

Less than 14 weeks after others. I´m almost positive about 2006 release date.

From IGN: January 19, 2006 - Sources close to SEGA have told IGN Revolution that the developer is working on a new entry into the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise for Nintendo's next generation console. The title, purportedly developed by a "top-tier" SEGA team led by Yuji Naka, will not be a port of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game tentatively dubbed "Sonic the Hedgehog [next gen]." Instead, say insiders, it is an entirely original effort designed from the ground up to take advantage of Revolution's unique controller. No further details are available at this time. While it's easy to shrug this news off as a no-brainer, it is nevertheless an important development because it suggests that powerhouse publishers are thinking about ways to make innovative games on Nintendo's upcoming platform rather than just porting over dumbed down versions of their Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 projects. Furthermore, one source we spoke with alleged that they have known about a Revolution Sonic the Hedgehog game for at least two months, which indicates that it isn't a freshly hatched concept. We're keeping our fingers crossed that something might show at E3 2006, which explodes this May in Los Angeles. More than a decade ago, SEGA and Nintendo were big rivals, but in recent times the companies have enjoyed a fruitful partnership. Sonic Team chose to make GameCube the official home of its hedgehog mascot, releasing ports of its hit Dreamcast titles as well as wholly original Sonic efforts for the system. Meanwhile, Nintendo contracted SEGA developers like Amusement Vision to co-create GCN efforts such as F-Zero GX. The Big N's own Shigeru Miyamoto even entertained the idea of a mascot cross-over, in which Sonic could partner or square off against stars including Mario or Luigi. It is, therefore, not surprising that SEGA would continue to throw extra support Nintendo's way. Representatives for SEGA of America could not be reached in time for publish. IGN Revolution reminds readers that this information could not yet be substantiated and therefore should not be taken as an official confirmation. We'll update with more on the story as information becomes available. http://revolution.ign.com/articles/682/682320p1.html

Merrick said that Revo will be launched worldwide in shorter time period than DS which means less than 14 weeks. It would be stupid to launch a console in January or February so I assume 2006 release date for Europe. And that´s what NoE says too.
-
Yay indeed! I´m usually doubtful about these "I have some more info about Revo!" quys in gaming forums but everything in BicTac´s news makes pretty much always sense. I really hope you´re stating the truth...

For a site that started as a blog, that interview is good and professional read. Respect for Revolution Report. Looks like IGN was wrong (again) when they said that Hollywood is just an extension of Flipper...
-
Why would some guy from Zoonami know new infromation about Zelda...?
-
Nintendo gave an opportunity for couple of medias to play Revolution in New York something like month or two ago. At least MTV and CNN made article about that... Maybe National Geographic for Kids was there too. If that´s so, I wonder why they would have lied about that Tokyo journey.
-
Good point. Well, actually Nintendo owns one pretty new studio in Tokyo (it has only developed DK: Jungle Beat) but I really doubt a magazine like would have allowed to go there...
-
Just speculation... "But this is all just wishful thinking, according to Nintendo. "What the magazine has done is imagine how existing franchises would work with the Revolution controller, rather than actually seeing anything," a spokesperson told Eurogamer, adding: "It's all still speculation." http://eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=62378

revolution going to support 480p in europe ?
Twilight replied to basscadet's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Miyamoto once said that every Revolution game will have 480p as a standard. I believe that includes PAL games too... -
Final confirmation? From NoE´s frontpage:

If you look to the past, there is only one choise: NES (launch price in US): 199$ SNES: 199$ N64: 199$ GC: 199$

Current- and next-gen console size comparison pics
Twilight replied to Twilight's topic in Nintendo Gaming
PS3 looks MUCH bigger in the Kutaragi pic than in X360 comparison... -
Best I´ve seen so far: Just look at the Revolution! That thing is even smaller than I expected. Found it here. Don´t blame me if theres something wrong about those sizes.
