  1. Well, just had my first Wii U hard lock since the system update
  2. You forgot a step 3. Profit
  3. Been playing this the past couple of hours. Great fun, but can be pretty brutal. I keep getting the consolation prizes
  4. Just gift Pokémon
  5. I'd rather them do experiments inhouse (like they did with Zelda which resulted in them deciding to release Wind Waker HD rather than ruin a great game with a shoddy mode. What people forget is that Nintendo want their games to be 100% perfect. If they can't get a feature working properly to their full vision, then it shouldn't be included. This is why I like Nintendo, they don't shoehorn things in because they "should". They craft their games to perfection. I agree that Pikmin 3 online would be awesome, but even with the technology of today, they can't do it in a way that creates a perfect experience for all people. Why would an online mode be alright if it's gimped for some people?
  6. Well there are ways around it, such as by grouping things together and/or extrapolation which is used in many genres online including racers and FPs games, but that's not entirely feasible Pikmin in my view
  7. All I'm going on is my experience with these things. If Charlie managed to get it to work on a 56k modem, then ok, but I am doubting it based on my knowledge of how these things work. Just because he said it does not necessarily make it so. Yes, other games are constantly sending and receiving information, but very very few of them send out as much information as would be needed for a Pikmin level online. It's not the packets being sent, it's the volume of them that is the issue.
  8. It's just the entire concept behind NintendoLand lends itself to local multiplayer. having it online would completely gut this. It's an example of "sure, it could be online, but that doesn't mean it should". I've also played many a game with many units online before. Take Halo Wars. Once the units start getting to be over 100 in number, the bloody thing has issues. Plus, Nintendo doesn't have much experience with online. Do you really want them to essentially ruin Pikmin 3 just because it "should" be online?
  9. Piplup Password: 66972109
  10. That's great. I was afraid it'd be on Sky Atlantic, which I don't get as I'm on Virgin Media. They better air it after 9pm though, otherwise Channel 4 will get censor-happy again like they do with every other show they air.
  11. That really doesn't sound likely. With that many units it'd have caused a massive bottleneck in the connection. This is the issue I was referring to. Having to constantly be sending and receiving this information is the hindrance. Great, a personal insult just because I don't agree with you. Guess I should come to expect that from here.
  12. Sorry but it's not easy to do without making serious sacrifices to the gameplay for it to be seamless and perfect, which is what Nintendo strives for. Pikmin and Super Mario 3D World, while they would be nice online, would suffer from various latency issues which would cause the gameplay to be severely hindered. Nintendo would never do that. I would love for those games to be online, especially the latter. However, I know that it's not overly feasible
  13. If they create and publish compelling software, it will sell. Look at all the indies who are doing download titles. They're all saying that their games on 3DS are selling more than they do on iOS for Christ's sake. There is a market if you actually make decent games. I'll give you Pikmin, though as a Cisco-certified network engineer, I can tell you outright that there would be serious issues to overcome if it's to be completely seamless and fluid for those with weaker connections. In games I have played with similar amount of units, they have had issues with latency. NintendoLand being online just because it's multiplayer is not logical. The way that it is multiplayer does not lend itself well to the online environment. Would it be nice? Sure. Does it fit? No.
  14. Indeed, Nintendo brought it on themselves, but that further cements my point. I mean come on, according to n-Space's CEO, publishers are turning down 3DS projects because the console "isn't selling enough", which is utter bull. It's a perfect example of the point I am making.
  15. I refer you to my previous post. Yes, some third parties do, but most do not and publishers are apparently against it They're specifying 3DS as a piece of hardware that publishers are avoiding, not just Wii U.
  16. Yes, but that doesn't explain them not supporting the 3DS, nor does it explain them supporting the Vita which is doing worse than the Wii U Unfortunately, you are right. It's been seen this way since the Gamecube when Nintendo started being called "kiddy". It's a shame though as Nintendo's games are almost always the best of the best. People just struggle to see beyond the "oh it's not mature...it doesn't have guns/ridiculously in-depth story/brown" and that's quite sad. Well, with Pikmin, the reason it isn't online is due to the whole way online works and the fact it'd be tracking and sending 200+ things simultaneously, and that's just in regards to the player characters, not any items, enemies etc. which just isn't particularly feasible. NintendoLand just doesn't make sense online. I agree it should have been built in. Nintendo also are ploughing it with games. Third parties won't see that the audience is there. Even if the Wii U was massively successful, we'd be seeing similar third party situations.
  17. Turns out an ex EA head is now CEO of n-Space, and now they say this... If the Wii U had third party support throughout its drought, it also wouldn't be in this position
  18. Who on earth said that third party publishers were in cahoots about this and decided to boycott? Please do not put words in my mouth
  19. Explain why they're supporting the Vita more, which is doing worse than the Wii U, which is a handheld despite the 3DS doing much better than everything else.
  20. The amount of indie games coming out is brilliant, and they're among the more innovative and imaginative games coming out compared to the "major" publisher. They're the saving grace in the monotony that is gaming at the moment. Problem is that they don't get much exposure. This is starting to change with Nintendo and Sony both giving them big pushes, but as they're download only, and not retail, the exposure will never be large and they'll be ignored by the majority of the consumerbase
  21. Now that's more like it. I saw this article earlier, and it particularly clarifies things, and this has been exampled by Crytek before in regards to Crysis 3. Developers want to develop for the Wii U, but publishers are saying no. It's the same in regards to the 3DS despite the 3DS doing well, so there's definitely an anti-Nintendo thing going on...it's the only explanation http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-08-21-publishers-dont-want-games-for-nintendo-systems-right-now-n-space
  22. As has mine. It's just a shame the Miiverse community won't go live til midnight on Friday. Got a feeling I'll be wanting to take numerous pics
  23. Comparing a worldwide trailer, that has been out for two months, for an upcoming console with a lot of hype to a UK specific one for a released console that has been out days. Ok.
  24. A special edition of this game has been announced. It's called the "Deadly Six Edition" and includes several levels and boss battles based upon NiGHTS Into Dreams
