  1. So? It does everything in a spectacular fashion which is great fun to play. It didn't need to reinvent the wheel.
  2. Guys, I'm having trouble understanding Choze in this thread. It's almost as if his words are disrupted by Killzone 2's cock being in his mouth constantly.
  3. I'm amazed that anyone can dislike Edge's style of review. It's fantastic.
  4. Too short! I guess that's good in a way, as it definitely left me wanting more, but I was just getting a feel for it and boom, over. This demo reminded me of one thing - I hate the Playstation controllers, but I especially hate them when it comes for FPS'. I got the hang of it by the end of my second playthrough, but were this on the 360 I would've picked it up in a second. The Dualshock just seems... wrong when it comes to FPS', but eh, what can ya do? Everything else seemed funky. It looks fantastic, and, moreso than that, it has lovely little touches - like them reacting to to the exact places I shot them. I noticed a few little glitches when it came to animations switching (one guy was in a stumbling animation, then instantly changed to a waving arms one when he reached the ledge) but aside from that... phwoar. Seems to have nice atmosphere, too, though the length of the demo means I can't really judge that properly yet. Also find it kinda hard at first, but then I learnt to use cover and headshotted them sons of bitches before they knew what hit them. Feels like CoD4, but with a slightly more realistic edge. Or at least punishing edge. Can't decide which. I'll be pre-ordering it this weekend.
  5. Ah right, yeah I did read it on Kotaku. -_- I thought they said it was official, but maybe I'm remembering wrong. I should hunt that mod down.
  6. It's about time this got some DLC. The only problem with this game is a lack of content, so new campaigns if enough to make me happy. I heard about the Dawn of the Dead mall coming to L4D ages ago... whatever happened to that?
  7. Those screens are amazing. I actually can't think of a game I'm looking forward to more this year than this. Hopefully it won't disappoint as Uncharted is still the second PS3 game after MGS4.
  8. Such a long time away. Really looking forward to it though - bar a few unpolished techinical aspects, and side planets to explore, I absolutely loved the first.
  9. I'm pretty sure it might be slightly more satisfying to play as a good person, but when I did the right thing I was always low on cash and whatnot. I loved paying some guy 1000 caps to refill my inventory, then blowing his head off and taking it all back straight away.
  10. It must be, surely. Enemies would stop right by you and wait for 2/3 seconds before attacking. If it was like that on normal or above - ouch.
  11. It's true that they had a pretty easy time getting you if you weren't a good dodger. I know that whenever I saw a dude with a chainsaw, no mattter how many other enemies were around me, I always went for their knees first.
  12. That's the same as in Resi 4 though, if those chainsaw dudes got their ha... er... chainsaw on you then you were losing your head.
  13. Just blow up Megaton. I found it easy to have negative karma - in fact I was only in positive karma for a short while in the game. I was massively evil by the end, haha. It's more fun. ^_^
  14. At first I found the controls to be really unresponsive and obtuse. After my third death I was tempted to throw a hissy fit and brand it broken, but I kept with it and then my amazing skills came back from the Resi 4 days and I beat those motherfuckers back until my evac arrived. Oh yeah. Only problem? Twice Shiva died as I was doing fine just because I couldn't get to her in time. I really don't get why it's game over if this happens - why not just have her 'knocked out' until you can get to her? Eh, it was slightly annoying in the demo, so if it happens a lot in the main thing I can see myself growing to despise her. I have a few other concerns too (daytime setting, the fact somebody with you will take away the horror aspect entirely, etc) but I'll reserve judgement until I get the full game. Can't see it ever topping 4 though.
  15. NES: Super Mario Bros. 3 SNES: Super Mario World N64: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Gamecube: Resident Evil 4 Wii: Super Mario Galaxy Playstation: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Playstation 2: Metal Gear Solid 2 Playstation 3: Metal Gear Solid 4 Xbox: Project Gotham Racing 2 Xbox 360: Call of Duty 4 Megadrive: Sonic 2 Saturn: Sega Rally Championship Dreamcast: Shenmue 2 PC: Half-Life 2: Episode 2 I think that's about as accurate as I can get it.
  16. That IGN video review has totally sold me. Shit, this games look bad ass. I doubt I'll be overly disappointed if it doesn't play all that great - I just fancy seeing it on my HDTV. >_> It does look like it plays fantastically from the videos, however.
  17. I have 20 hours logged, but I don't think the length of time played will have anything to do with your response to the last chapter of the game. Whereas the main story was usually quite epic and focused on exploration and combat, engaging the player with different ways to approach each situation, the last mission is simply a joke that makes it appear that they ran out of ideas.
  18. Just finished it. Great game, lame ending. It felt so rushed, almost like they were out of development time or something. It's still one of the best games of 2008, but it's a shame that it finished in such an anti-climatic fashion.
  19. Grr. That sucks - I hate it when games don't let you continue after completion. Especially in an RPG. Ah well, making one super save before I do the final quest it is.
  20. Guys, on Kotaku a few days ago, it says that you can keep playing the game if you download the DLC after you complete the main quest. I'm one quest away from completing the game now, so I was wondering if this was true? I was planning on making a really awesome save before I do the final quest so I can go back there and carry on, but I won't bother if this is true. Thanks!
  21. I don't like how they're building up that guy in the F.B.I. headquarters who is kinda shady:
  22. I've watched a lot of Killzone 2 media today and I have to say I'm very impressed. The original was one of the most overhyped pieces of crap that I ever played, so until now I was paying no attention to it; I'm eagerly awaiting the demo to see if it plays as good as it looks.
  23. Well, there's a boss at the end of each world, so that's quite a bit of action. Not overwhelmingly so, but when it's so boring to play it adds up. Personally, I wish they had the guts to have a game that is void of any combat. There has yet to be a perfect Prince of Persia game thanks to the fight mechanics - just ditch it.
  24. I think it'll become more than a minor quibble once you progress further. For me, the only bad thing about the game is how tedious and repetitive the combat is. It's bad enough you have to fight the same bosses over and over, but it's made worse by the fact you keep getting the same QTEs and patterns of attack. It's great that the fights are now one-on-one, as it makes the fighting less of a distraction from the exploring, but with the boss fights it becomes clear that the engine has a lot to be desired.
  25. I started this today and so far it's much better than I expected it to be. The parodic nature of the dialouge really charmed me from the opening cutscene, and I love the whole vibe of the game. I'm not far enough in to have built anything too fantastic, but I can already tell that half of the fun will come from going back to challenges I did previously, with a design built specifically for it, and smashing my record in hopes of getting a trophy. With the ability to fly I can already think of a few funky things I want to try with it - and I think that the game will actually let me do it. The options when it comes to creation seems vast. My only complaint? The fact I can't use my own inventions in the main town. My girlfriend and I created a great little vehicle to reach the highest areas, then realised we had basically wasted our time since you're at the mercy of the game and the pieces they give you after defeating a boss. I do understand why they did this from a game design perspective, but it's a bit disappointing.
