It's the same anywhere else in the world (hell, in the US, it's even called 'US History'). I think the general consensus is that British history is almost certainly the most important type of history to know about, what, with us living in Britain and stuff, and international historical research can be achieved by studying at university, or even by home study. the resources for home study , such as the internet, are almost certainly there. My history GCSE course had half British history (WW1, WW2, etc) and half international history (Bolsheviks, great depression, Vietnam, Cold War..)

I fully endorse the war in Afghanistan. Fine, you don't have to believe it's in the best interests for UK security (which, may I add, it probably is), but the Taliban are the most evil bastards to embrace this planet since the Nazis. I feel it not a British obligation, but a human obligation to fight the Taliban. And that's why, when I learn that the government aren't providing our troops with the correct equipment, it infuriates me. My personal belief is that the Government should be providing the appropriate resources wherever necessary, whatever the cost may be. Cut education funds, cut business funds, cut whatever you need to cut in spending (bar the NHS), just give these men what they need. That said, the British military is still very technologically capable of fighting and winning out there, and our resources are still a hundred times better than the Talibans. Oh, and we never hear any of the Taliban casualties. From what I understand, they are sustaining far higher casualties than we are. Oh well, I suppose they are an insurgency, where official statistics aren't practically and tactically available to give out... I take it you didn't loose any relatives in 7/7 then? -

I have to say, I was going to purchase this game today, but your posts (and various reviews) put me right off. Good job too, it would seem. I only ever really get games with 90%+ review scores (from ONM), and should've known better than to consider investing in this.

It doesn't need to change as much as you are proposing. It is a tried and tested formula, and if it ain't broken, why fix it? I do agree with the points that Hyrule needs to be improved- it needs to get bigger, both physically and demographically. I think TP boasted an unimpressive Hyrulian population, especially Kakariko Village, with its scarce shops and population of around 8. That's my two cents.

Hinduism, Islam and Christianity, India's three largest religions, all oppose homosexuality. Religion in India is far more integrated into daily life than it is here. Ah well, religion should stay out of what it doesn't concern. India probably is the most liberal country in the Middle East, and this is proof.

I dreamt Barack Obama came round my house last night. I don't really remember much else, bar the fact he told me there was a lot of secret service agents outside, and the police were in touch, in case someone tried to kill him. Weird, I never really wanted to meet Obama until that dream, as in it he seemed like a really nice man.

From a heterosexual male, I do find penis' strangely attractive. I'm not attractive to men at all (that I know of), but I so find penis' quite a turn on. The penis on the physique and beauty of a woman would be brilliant. Is it just me that thinks this?

Communism, in theory, is a wonderful ideology. Cuba is an example of communism gone right (or as right as it can get, considering American embargos and dictators). However, North Korea, in a complete contrast, is the most suppressive regime on the planet. It technically can't be classified as a completely communist state any more though, the political thinking dervies more from the policies of the late manical tyrant Kim II-sung. -
On the subject of Maine, beautiful part of the world. New England in general is a pretty stunning piece of scenery, but Maine is something else. Especially the national park it has (can't remember its name right now). I comment rather frequently on YouTube videos, but isn't it so annoying when you're completely winning an argument, and the opponent blocks you or deletes your posts?

I think China has already started to embark on its own space programme, but I doubt there'll be another space race. Most countries don't have the resources the United States does, and many people from across the world work in NASA anyway. It's just as much a global organization as it is an American one. Anyway, it is indeed a feat to be remembered. -
Terminator:Salvation 7/10 I can see what they've tried to do here, I do. But scaling down the violence and dark tones of the past films, especially in their 'future war' scenes, to fit a 12A certificate wasn't worth it. It just wasn't scary enough, shocking enough, adrenalin rushing enough. And I like to be shit scared in terminator films. Still, a noble attempt, with some good action scenes and a plot typical of the genre.

I'm split. Yes, they're a bundle of joy and new life and great responsibilty and everything, and apparantly most people's lives change for the better after having children. But they're ever such hard work, and at least 18 years of your life will be devoted to them, even more if you have more than one child.

I'm neutral on this. I was never really a big Jackson fan, and I'd be far more devastated if someone, say, Alexandra Burke, were to die. So I'll have to put myself in that situation, and sympathise with fans that way. On the one hand, people die every day, and just because it was someone fortunate enough to be as rich and famous like Michael Jackson was, it doesn't make it any more tragedic. But on the other hand, he defined his music genre, and in that sense, the world has lost a truly great artist.

The purpose of this thread is to find out whether or not you believe that Scotland, Wales or even Cornwall should attain independence from the United Kingdom. It is my personal belief that they shouldn't- I love the security of living in a big country, and each individual country has benefitted from the union. Discuss.

Gordon Brown's trying to reduce the amount of unemployments next year, but there's going to be at least one more. -
Because they have an irrational dislike of England, and are too proud? Their own place on the world stage? A tiny nation of five million residents would be behind Poland on the world stage of influence. Scotland would have to raise its own armed forces (good luck at trying to rival the UKs armed forces though). The GDP is only lower than Englands because of its size and population, and GDP is only one way of measuring wealth. It makes sense to have the government located in London, the UKs biggest city, Europe's largest financial center and the UKs only true global city. But your idea of distribution of government isn't too bad- South Africa has three different capitals. Still, as previously said, London is just a location. Lots of people in this city aren't even English.
