  1. Some choose to call the female fans "pegasisters", though the general consensus seems to be that as girls can be bros, so girls can be bronies. :heh: The use of a unisex term also seems to better express the open and accepting philosophy of the fandom.

Fun fact, though: While the term "brony" is almost always quoted as being an amalgamation of bro and pony, apparently it originally came from /b/ + pony since the brony fandom originated on 4chan of all places. It seems to be one of those cases where a fake etymology is adopted that fits the term better.

  2. In America the tip is practically a given so to be only paid such an amount would be seen as wrong to some extent. It isn't a matter of 'Tips should be appreciated, never expected' like they are here.

I'd say the tipping tradition is irrelevant here, a server shouldn't post threats of spitting in the food on Facebook.

  3. People are always asking for powers but in this game I wanted the characters themselves to be as important.

Which I think was a problem, seeing as we're accustomed specifically to NOT take the characters into consideration, and particularly not in a neutral-flavoured game like this one.

I loved the flavour, though. You have a talent for writing excellent flavour.

  4. That said, it was good fun. I do enjoy convincing people they're totally wrong about things, it usually only happens when I'm a member of the mafia, so it was nice to be able to do it as a townie, working with the information I had and trying to convince people. This time I was actually telling the truth :p

Well, is it really any surprise I was suspicious of you? You always play extremely well as a mafioso, shaping the most intricate lies! :p

  5. I can see how you'd be annoyed but I said no one could reach your target and it was only Aqui1a that actually did reach your target (though not really as he only left behind a package). Yvonne and Nintendohnut did all of their work through reports, never coming in to contact with protected targets, which Nintendohnut did mention although he wasn't certain.

I know, I know. In the end it comes down to semantics.

  6. The reason I ask is because I used to hang out with women much more as well. I seemed to have thought that if I was "nice" enough for them, maybe someone would want to date me etc. When I realised this, I got totally fed up with it, because I was basically just volunteering to take all their emotional garbage and act as a crutch. Makes no sense, and it's annoying as hell, so I just stopped doing it and started taking some distance from women in general. Now it's totally opposite: I actually see the value of hanging out and chatting with guys, because there's no tension or "game" constantly being played. We can just relax, have fun and discuss whatever things we want, from games and technology to politics, self-improvement and women ; D It's been interesting to notice that there really is much more common understanding between other men than women, of course because the situation is the same.

The issue of femininity / masculinity is an interesting one. Yes, I agree, do what you want regardless of any gender norms, but be sure to check how you view men in regards to women. Are they on equal footing, or is one more valuable than the other? Up and until now, I was actually holding women in much higher regard, because the feminist discourse so one-sidedly portrays them as the eternal victims of male abuse. In other words, I was feeling ashamed of being a man (!), hence the need to become more "feminine" and cater to the needs of the oh-so-poor, always oppressed and suppressed women. That is just sick, painting one gender as evil and holding the other one up on a pedestal.

Thus in regards to "femininity", I'd say that take a real deep look at what YOU want. It's easy to get brainwashed by any outer influences telling you need to be this or that, be it a macho man or a "caring", spineless wussy who submits solely to the needs of women. Takes a lot of time to deconstruct all that bullshit, but it's totally worth it. As of now, I see myself, men and women in a totally different light. No longer do I think that being a man is something disgusting or to be shamed of, but rather embrace it. I know that I care about people, but I also realise that doesn't mean I have to be super sensitive like some women, or live in a constant world of rainbows, "love" and care bears. It's ok to be masculine, just as it is ok to be feminine. So throw them feminist and macho influences to hell, and figure it out yourself what you want. For me, having been to the feminine deep end, I actually now find it much more pleasurable being "masculine".

I sympathise completely, but be careful not to fall in the trap at the other end and assume that this is always the case with men who are feminine and/or have female friends. I'd say my personality, like Dazz's, is a good mixture of masculine and feminine, probably leaning more towards the feminine, and for the last couple of years I've probably had more close female friends than male - however, none of this is due to me thinking more highly of women than of men or having romantic interest in my female friends. I've simply found these things more comfortable and more me.

(Nice avatar, by the way! :D)

Regarding your friend, Dazz, he sounds like a bit of a knob. With the other friend who hinted at a secret you'd shared with him, your "friends" honestly don't sound like very nice people. :heh: Strangely enough I've personally never been bullied or considered gay for of my not-exactly-masculine personality.

  7. Dannyboy - Your power would stop anyone from reaching your target but I decided to let Aqui1a's power get through because of its positive benefits. He would give sweets to a player each night to boost them so I had him leave a package for Yvonne to use the next night.

Nintendohnut and Yvonne were exempt from any protecting (they could target your targets) because they were info gatherers and only worked with reports, not actual people.

If you targeted yourself, you would not be informed of anyone targeting you because you would be locked in your office for the night and your team would prevent people getting to you. You were not roleblocked in the final night because you protected yourself.

Well, those are fair points, but they're a bit hard to work with when they directly contradict what my role PM says. Fair enough, but a bit annoying.

@Nintendohnut, my apologies for falsely accusing you, but look at it from my perspective - a silent player (who is backing up someone you heavily suspect of being mafia) claims to have done something which everything you know suggests neither could have nor did happen. What was I supposed to think? :heh:

  8. Also Dannyboy:

*insert 'I told you so' meme here*

    :yay:

As for the Doctor, we assumed it was Dannyboy based on what he said (the doctor sounded like a jailkeeper).

    So I roleblocked him.

I was indeed the doctor. I assumed that was implied when I revealed my power.

I still say Peeps has some explaining to do, because I still don't get it. When did you roleblock me, you say?

  9. Damn. Well, ReZourceman I was certain of, Tales I suspected, but I didn't think Diageo, and Cube took my completely by surprise. Well, less so after yesterday, and I think perhaps I did get paranoid about him at one point, but still, I was far from putting a vote down.

Now, Peeps, would you kindly explain what was going on with my power?

  10. And that is why I utterly despise private health care. It's positively inhumane.

That being said, I understand your frustration with the guy. He does sound like he needs to straighten out some things in his life.

  11. Sidenote: I had also completely forgotten that fleeing an arranged marriage and growing up in grinding poverty by surving off snow with her adoptive mother was James & Jessie's backstories. That show had some shit going on in there, man.

Jessie, James and Meowth are probably the most developed characters in the entire show.
