  1. I go with the PAL-boxart. She looks more (suitably) scared and the guy looks more concerned. They look less though and more vulnerable. Great for a game like DS:E! Reminds me of the strange difference in boxart between the PS3-version of Ghostbusters and the Game+Blu-Ray-box. Subtle, but different nontheless. Have to say, I'm warming up to this game.
  2. Ah, good times! That was one great video, even if a lot of the games shown turned out quite different! It was a tech demo after all. But my head exploded when seeing this video. Even if it started pretty badly. Or starred gaming icons who would later 'defect' to Microsoft.
  3. Now that you mention it, how about a new of even remake of Panzer Dragoon Saga? Seeing as the original Saturn-version is being sold at prices around €100-€150, it might nog be a bad idea, even if it's a niche game. Panzer Dragoon Orta was actually a pretty good game on Xbox. A PD-game on Wii might steal S&P 2's fire, but there aren't enough games like that anymore. Why, in my days... I've given up hope to ever avenge Ryo's father's death. Curse you, Lan Di! Curse you and that damn helicopter!
  4. OK. Anyways, I think all in all Sony had the best presentation, but overall, all of the conferences were pretty good actually. I don't think Nintendo should've shown more of Zelda Wii (not like there is anything to show to begin with at the moment). Slightly disappointed there was no Pikmin 3 in any form. Kid Ikarus no-show was pretty disappointing too, and would have liked some Pilotwings. Picky? Who, me? :p Atleast we have something to look forward come next E3. But it was a pretty tense and at times stained presentation. To put it in Prequel Jedi-speak: " I sensed an unusual amount of fear for something as trivial as this E3-conference". Guess they knew they had something to prove. But they pulled through, IMO. What I did miss in the Nintendo conference were third-party-titles, which is Nintendo's weak point. But content-wise, it was a good year. They just need to brush up their presentational skills.
  5. *influencing whisper* C'mon Sega... Daytona USA... You know it makes sense... Even a straight port of the 2001-edition will do nicely... Tam Tadam Tadam Tadam Da Damdaaaaaaammmmmmm!
  6. Mighty interesting! I've played this on PS3 and no need to tell it's amazing! I just wonder how well it'll hold up and how many corners will be cut. If it's as good a port as CoD: WaW, it's should be OK. C'mon first screenshots... I want'cha!
  7. There is definitely room for improvement, like oiling the joint of Reggie to make him less stiff and refuel his kickin'-ass'n-takin'-names-supply. Seriously though, it was a lot better than the previous few years. Iwata himself made the best impression on me. Reggie the worst. Yes, even worse than Cammie. But I agree NSMB Wii suffered from a bad presentation. It was too sterile for something that fun. Let people try it out on the showfloor, but don't let people play it on stage. That works for something like WiiSport Resort or Project Natal, because that's something new that has to be seen first, but not something as familiar as classic 2D-Mario, four players or not. Still, they saved their skin at this years E3 as far as I'm concerned, so they must have done something right.
  8. Alas, it is not. These are things that make me wonder how detached Nintendo has become. That looks horrible. And once it's seen, it can't be unseen. Suddenly, the vitality sensor is looking like a high-tech piece of gaming entertainment next to this.
  9. Nintendo is pretty secretive by nature. Expect to see something from Zelda Wii at E3'10 at best. Remember, Nintendo is in no hurry and are now focussing the public's attention to SMG2, NSMB Wii, WiiFit+, etc. Ah, Spaceworld... Those were the days... Though I'd like to see it back, it isn't very lucrative and it makes more sense business-wise to use an event like E3 when all the gamer's eyes are pointing to one direction, instead of just the Nintendo-fans. No point in preaching to the believers, eh.
  10. I have to agree with Emasher here. It's not very likely that that's going to happen. Like Emasher said, Twin Snakes was a one-time-thing and Brawl was merely a cameo. Konami are free to make their games on any concole they desire, be it Playstation, PSP, Gameboy Colour, Gamecube,... It's their call, and they don't have an exclusivity with anybody. It's like Castlevania: the series had it's most success of PS, GBA and DS (the PS2-versions weren't really that bad, just not as good), yet the next game is coming to PS3 and 360. Or the best and most successful Resident Evil is ofcourse RE4: Wii Edition, yet RE5 didn't make it to Wii. And remaking MGS2 for Wii? Doesn't sound like a very good idea, truth be told. The game hasn't aged very well, and it wouldn't take any advantage of the Wii's functionalities, unless they give the entire game a complete overhaul, which takes time, money and effort best spent making new games. Selling them again on PS2 is simple, with next to no work involved bar from reprinting the games. So don't hold your breath for a MGS-game on Wii. Unless ofcourse Konami has a surprise lined up for us, which is unlikely as they are focusing on Peace Walker and Rising. If you really crave a MGS-fix on Wii, track down Twin Snakes for GC.
  11. Actually, a 6/10 is not too shabby for Edge. The standard is just quite different when compared to the likes of ONM or even worse: Nintendo Power. 7 is the norm for OK-games. With Edge and GamesTM, it's a 5. True, even by Edges standards, A 6 is lower than I'd like to see, but it's better than everage. Was't it Edge that gave MP3:C a 7? Still, why they gave Halo 3 a perfect 10 is still beyond me...
  12. I've put some serious time in thise one, and while I understand the gripes I've heard about (unskippable cut-scenes and tutorials, somewhat unresponsive controls,...), I find this game nowhere as bad as I've read here and there. Am I really the only one rather *gasp* enjoying this? True, there is a steep learning curve for the fighting-controls, but after some training I landed the punches I wanted to. Well, most of the time anyway. The trick is not to waggle. You have to use small, controlled motions. Forward for jab, up for uppercut and inwards for jab. No big motions, mind. Same for the whip. I can grab the head, waist or feet whenever I want to. I've heard terrible things about the second level in which you control a plane. I LOVED that level and thought the controls were great. Finished it without crashing and was disappointed it was over so quickly. The graphics are pretty good! Way better than I expected. The voice-acting isn't too shabby either. My gripes are: unskippable cut-scenes, unskippable tutorials (not an issue once you've passed them), not the most reliable of controls (but when it finally clicks, it really works), very linear (though there are several approaches to a situation on some occasions, e.g. go through door or sneek in from behind the bar) and some bugs 'n glitches. But I'v eplayed far worse games. Far worse. And if I have to choose between this and Tomb Raider on Wii, Indy wins with a knockout. It's not a classic, far from it, and it's more Crystal Skull than Last Crusade, but it's a piece of entertainment, and it's true to the Indy-spirit. Just don't expect an Uncharted. €60 is way too much, though, compared the other games outthere and their prices. One thing that I found 'funny': The enemy are without a doubt the Nazi's, yet in the game the word Nazi is never used, nor the Swastika-symbol. I can unstand they want to remove the imagery (though Emperors Tomb had them), but they still talk about the Germans, their Führer, Third Reich, etc. Why not call a cat a cat when it's so obvious they mean Nazi's?
  13. If it's a delay to deliver a better product, I'm all for it! Rather wait a little longer than have a rush-job like the original Red Steel. However, if the quality is still questionable when it's released, there will be hell to pay. Still, I'm looking forward to this very much! Looks great and original, and truth be told, I quite enjoyed the original despite its shortcomings. At first I was even gutted RS2 wasn't a continuation of the first. How foolish I was. If there is one thing better than a gunslinger it's a gunslinger with a sword. Why didn't King think of that? Roland with a Katana. I could have died a happy reader.
  14. Hmm, this sounds familiar. I've tried some online matches, much to my dislike (Yes, still hate online shooters, but hey, atleast gotta try, right?), and had similar experiences. Waiting up to 10 minutes for a match to begin, odd choices of players (ignoring my preferences), and on a few occasions I was waiting for a game, and suddenly I see the end result of a match, and I'm included fort some reason. No kills obviously, but why get ranked (badly) for a match you didn't even participate in? And after that: joy, back to the lobby for another round of waiting! I don't know if this is supposed to happen but still... odd. Haven't had the Brown Wall, though. Not yet. Guess I'll never learn to like online shooters. Still liking the single-player, though. Not loving, just liking. Picked up CoD:WaW too, and I think overall that game has the edge.
  15. "Awww, come on bucko! Don't you want a... balloon? They float... and when your down here, with me... YOU FLOAT TOO!
  16. Picked this up from the bargain bin, and it's way better than I had dared to expect. It's pretty ol' skool 2D, and it has some nice twists of its own. I actually got tempted to buy this after playing NyxQuest on WiiWare. This probably hasn't sold at all, which is a bit of shame, really. If you love 2D-platformers, I can't really find any argument not to atleast try this one out. Well, unless you're strapped for cash, or you've got a distaste for anything colourful.
  17. Only picked this one up recently, and really enjoying it! True, the controls are sticky, but it's a design choice rather than buggy controls. When you want to jump on a roof, and you hit the wall, the wall-sticking mechanic comes into action and you stick to the wall. But yes, the levels can drag on too long without savepoint. Anyways, my girlfriend is absolutely loving it. While I'm off to earn some cold; hard cash, she spends her days 'blobbing'. Gotta love the music! So funky, and perfectly implemented in the game!
  18. Oh, sweet banana, this is fun! got it ysterday (hooral for streetdate-breaking stores!) This really is a slice of patented Gaming GoodnessTM. I'm really having a blast, and I haven't even played it in multiplayer yet. I think my fragile mind will blow! It's all good (well, bar cycling, perhaps)! Love the skydiving, the plane, the frisbee, but one mode owns them all: Swordsplay Showdown! It's like being Beatrix, going up against the Crazy 88. Or being Sauron and using the One Ring. Whack, whack, whack! Fly, mii's, fly!! I'm probably a bit too excited about whacking people. Wonders if real-life is just as fun... I'll let you know as soon as my parole is up!
  19. Madness. I bought WiiSpeak today for €2. That's a new one, and there are mountains of the stuff in stores at the same price. Speaks volumes on how well it's selling. So, guess I'll give the Conduit another online spin.
  20. I haven't really had the time to play this a lot due to time constraints, but I just...
  21. Bargain time! I saw this for a €20, and was feeling funky! I'm quite impressed so far. Mind, it's not worth a cent more than €20 (possibly even €15), but it's quite fun actually. But for a retailprice of €50? Just ridiculous. Anyhoo, I'm having fun with it. Just innocent, plain fun. Nothing more, nothing less. For that price, it was worth it. Made quite a funky version of 'Twinkle, twinkle little star'. If only the missus was here to 'appreciate' it. The controls are alright. They serve their purpose. I've never been one to call for a Wii Music 2 (quite the contrary, actually), but I must admit, if they just go a little bit further, better sounds, better compositions, less playground, knock it up a notch... A Wii Music 2 just might well be worth it. If I'm convinced of one thing now, it's that the technology works and it's better than it sounds (no pun intended). If only nintendo put some more effort in the content...
  22. Ah, It's that heavenly time of the year again! Bargains! For next to no money I picked up: De Blob Battalion Wars Wii SNK Arcade Classics vol. 1 Link's Crossbow Training (used copy) Metal Slug 7 Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland Space Invaders Extreme If only I could buy more time... They also have Wii Music real cheap, but triple . Might as well throw my money in the toilet.
  23. Mmm, good point. Perhaps my text focused too much on the negative. I would give it 70% because despite it's genericness, the controls are excellent and while it's doesn't do anything any other shooter hasn't done, it does what it sets out to do well. It's way better than the majority of Wii-shooters outthere. It's just a shame it's so uninspired in its context. But what's more important: I'm having fun with it. It's definitely a cut above the average shooter. So while it stays strictly in the confines of previous shooters, atleast it does it well. Shame about the AI, though. OK, maybe it's more of a 60%-er.
  24. No more than WiiSport. You have to be able to stand up and do a full swing. Unless you have gargantuan arms, there shouldn't be a problem. Safety tip: be sure there isn't a chandelier or something like that haning above you. And when playing Disc Golf: use the safety strap. You never know.
