That's what intrigued me the most, because I also believed that the classic didn't have this.... if it does it's def worth the buy as it (in my opinion) will be slightly better than the GC pad (and should work for ALL VC games unlike GC pad... Yeah I wasn't sure on posting it (hence spoilers? in title) as I like discovering these things myself but thought it was prob worth posting!!

Found this interesting stuff (Not sure if already posted): The guys over at Nintendo-Centrium have compiled a list of the strange and weird secret things you can do on your new Wii console. The list is as follows - · In the Photo Channel, you can catch the evil cat that runs across the screen to get tips! It appears in the Fun option, and you can grab the cat with the A and B button. · You can have a 194 piece puzzle by holding down the 1 button before selecting any piece amount. · If you don’t have an SD card and still want to check out Photo Channel, you can e-mail a Jpg to your Wii Message Board. There is a size limit for any mail you send to it - possibly 1mb. · In Bowling, you can throw your ball into other people’s lanes. · If you put mp3s in your SD card along with your photos, you can change the background music during a slideshow to one of your mp3s. · When the messageboard records your play time, if you don’t exit to the Wii Menu before you power off the machine, it records the play time as “other”. If you properly exit to the menu and then shut off it will record it as the correct game. · You can rearrange almost anything on the wii…like the channels and messages by just holding the A and B · The plasma burin reduction kicks in the second the wiimote shuts down. · when you get an e-mail, not only does the disc drive light up and pulsate blue, but your Wiimote sends out a little chirp · when you’re in the Mii channel and you don’t use the Wiimote for a little bit and your Mii’s start walking around, if you then suddenly use the Wiimote, all the Mii stop and follow the ‘hand’ for about 3 seconds…. · when typing messages, and you need to go back and edit the message(while still typing) instead of deleting letters, just point to where you want to edit to move the type cursor. · In Wii Sports Bowling, when you press up on the Directional Pad, it will zoom in on the lane. The zoom in sound is the exact same sound from Super Mario 64 anytime you moved the camera. · Co Op Jugsaw puzzles in wii photos · You can place the sensor bar upside down and it doesn’t reverse the directions of your movements… · In wii sports bowling, you can release on the back swing and throw the ball backwards. It scares all the miis behind you. · Classic controller has analog shoulder buttons. With the GC “click” at the bottom. Seems the classic pad is pretty much an improved GC pad (better D-Pad)

Yeah I'm gettin one too, they're only £12 so it's hardly gonna break tha bank is it...

Looking at the manual it seems to say that the sensor bar, if below the tv, has to be on the same surface that the TV is sitting on (i.e it can't be on a shelf below the TV or, I would therefore presume, on the floor). It also states it needs to be on the very edge of the surface it is sitting on.... a little more inflexible than previously thought....

Apparently this is one of the main things in the US - people can't get controllers/nunchucks and other accessories... best to pre-order I reckon...

HMV = the worst f**king retailer in Britain
Alan77 replied to darthbane2k's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Maybe you should have stopped moaning for a second and gone out a few weeks ago and made a back-up pre-order somewhere else... honestly, shouting about it on here isn't gonna help you is it! I have 2 consoles pretty much guaranteed because I used my head.... bearing that in mind I reckon there will be loads of unclaimed pre-orders come the 8th as people get refunds on their 2nd/3rd/4th back-up pre-orders. All this fuss is a bit previous really... -
It could be that you're not getting one of the first batch of Wii's (Theres a second shipment a few days after launch... maybe you're getting one of those... The game however prob isn't as popular so you're getting that for launch... maybe.

On a different note PCWorld have just put this up on their website: Due to high demands, all pre orders taken on or after 6th November we are curently unable to guarentee delivery for launch day. Good news for Wii and anyone who pre-ordered (ME!!) before 6 Nov! Also confirms delivery on LAUNCH not 5-7 days later as some had thought. 2 Wiis for Me on launch!! It's good to know retailers are finally STOPPING taking pre-orders so that we finally start to find out the launch allocations etc...

You either already have the money or your rich parents are buying it for you...

GAME Confirm Whos Getting A Launch Day Wii ! ! !
Alan77 replied to Coolit's topic in Nintendo Gaming
My point being - Ring your store!!! They all know their allocation now. It's also Head Office that send the letters so my store can vouch for EVERY store and those were the reasons they gave me and a couple of other people I know who asked. -
Is there any truth/confirmation in the idea that the wii can connect wirelessly with other wiis? Like DS wireless play (I'm not talking about WiFi)? Anyone know?
-
I (and I'm sure others) have already posted this in the European Pre-order thread..... I'd never heard of them before but I've ordered Wii Play there cos it's way cheap and it seemed a pretty professional site. Gotta be worth a punt if you're still to pre-order.

Not everyone will get a letter - I didn't - but it doesn't mean you won't get one. They might not have been able to read your name/address/loyalty card number etc etc... I rang the store and they said everyone who paid a deposit will get one. Does anyone actually read these threads before posting - these kind of questions have all been answered before..... -
I've emailed them but no response (I ordered with them ages ago). Try Argos (They are still guaranteeing Launch Wiis and this place: http://www.play3k.com also (dunno much about them but seem to be stating they'll supply for launch) Also just as an update I've just ordered WiiPlay + remote from Play3K (Play 3000) for only £27.99. That's cheaper than a remote on it's own at some places.. site seems pretty good.

and then you found it was a pile o' shite!! -
Simple answer - ChoicesUK.com - all games £29.99

They always had that message on the website. I also ordered around the time you did so I am also hopeful but would be nice if they let us know! They def won't ship til 5 days later? Their FAQ's state Pre-Orders will reach you on the first day to market. PCWorld deals are great but I have to admit I'm glad my 'back-up' order at Game is confirmed now....

GAME Confirm Whos Getting A Launch Day Wii ! ! !

Game Bristol have confirmed that everyone who paid a deposit will get a Wii on launch. They had 100 units to sell (which they have filled) and have a further waiting list of 30-odd people. If this is the same across the country then it's looking good for Wii but not so good for some of you who were a bit late to the party. I wonder how many of these pre-orders will end up being touted on EBay tho..... -
Yeah I got in there pretty early so I'm hopeful and I've got a Game pre-order as back-up but I do find it annoying as it seems the online retailers are fairly reluctant to give firm details (prob trying to keep trade) and I would like at least a bit of warning either way so I know whether to head down to the Midnight Launch at Game! I guess we'll hear something soon enough - even if it isn't until they issue a dispatch/tracking number!!

If you go in or ring them you should be able to find out pretty easily. I haven't got a letter and I was 20th on the list. Someone who was in the 30-somethings has got theirs so it's obviously a bit hit-and-miss. As I posted earlier if your name/reward card/address were illegible (or they didn't take the details) they couldn't send a letter out but that doesn't mean you won't get one. Just head in and check. -
Has anyone pre-ordered from PCWorld online? or used them before? Has anyone got any info on their stock allocations etc?
-
So you can turn up instead, eh?
-
I just read someone on Nintendo-Europe forum saying they got one and were worried it was fake as it didn't look all that 'official'. Just thought I'd mention it as you never know.... Yeah I don't see what anyone would get from it either but just thought I'd mention it as noone had brought it up on here. I'm sure it's fine....
-
Are you 100% sure that it isn't a hoax/fake email? Does it contain your Username? Did it come from a genuine source? Someone brought this up on the Nintendo Europe forums. They said it's a really basic looking email without any formatting... you should check with Ninty before replying. Just a word of caution.

GAME Confirm Whos Getting A Launch Day Wii ! ! !

A friend of mine who was before me on the list went into Game Bristol today and they said that not all pre-orders had names next to them (they didn't note them!!) or some had illegible loyalty card numbers etc so they couldn't mail out to everyone. He was one of those people but he was told he's def getting one - I wouldn't panic too much....
