  1. Holy crap, that's a lot of posts for someone who can only check here once a day! Yeah, I can't keep up with this debate. Have fun! Although I can attest to being a witness of @Dcubed's insane first run of BOTW.
  2. Oh snap! They're totally adding one of the Dragon Quest main characters to Smash! Wait...
  3. This is the biggest thing to note. The Metroid community are some of the whiniest, stubbornest gamers of all. Any kind of deviation gets them up in arms. There's one thing with the argument that Metroid should be more like BOTW that I don't think would work as well. And that's the suit upgrades themselves. In BOTW, you're pretty much given your entire toolset in the opening area. And the world is designed with that in mind. You give Samus her entire toolset in the opening area and she becomes an unstoppable destruction machine. Yeah... I'm sick to death of this rhetoric that structured, linear world design is somehow inherently bad compared to open-world games. I've yet to play a single open-world that hasn't bored me to tears. Open-worlds and tight, engaging world design are just incompatible as far as I'm concerned. Something has to give. Another thing to take into account is the sheer amount of time it takes to make something as gargantuan as BOTW. Metroid Prime 4 just had to be restarted from scratch, and you want it to go huge? Sure, you tell people they'll have to wait another 7 years for Metroid Prime 4, see how well that will go over. And despite all that, this is the kicker. Why do two Nintendo series need to be the same? Especially with a BOTW 2 on the way, MP4 following in its foot stamps would just look sad in comparison. I've said this with Pokémon and I'll say it with any series that uses some form gatekeeping to keep you on some kind of set path. Not everything needs to be open-world. There's already plenty of those games littering gaming these days. And they're dull. I can only think of a game where Samus doesn't need all her stuff to get to places she needs to go boring me to tears. If the force behind Zelda couldn't pull it off, I doubt much smaller Retro Studios can either.
  4. Sorry, afraid I'm not available until this Friday.
  5. We didn't see a receptionist at all, we saw something else sitting behind the desk, but it was no receptionist.
  6. This is the case for every Zero Escape game. Makes clicking on everything much more entertaining.
  7. Oh right, it's been such a hectic weekend what with Super Mario Kart NELeague and reviewing Link's Awakening that I forgot to ask @Vileplume2000 if he'd be available to carry on with Mario World tonight. Short notice, I know, but I'm available for the rest of the day if you're up for it.
  8. Anyway, this is my new favourite Tetris video.
  9. Kirby theme get! And by the time I got to it, @Dcubed had 275 points. And we purposely played at the same time so we'd be in the same matches. The guys a beast!
  10. The sound effect for K.O's is nothing short of hilarious! I'm at 65 points. Naturally, @Dcubed gets Tetris Maximus on his second attempt!
  11. Before I post my highlights... I need to address something with @Dcubed Anyway, here's some of mine. I'm on the top screen, @viceview51 is on the bottom.
  12. So, let me explain how this worked. Every race was treated as if it was an 8-player MK8DX race. The only difference is that losing to a CPU makes a difference. The other key thing to note is that your scores were calculated by adding each race together and then deducting the score by 20%. This was done to keep the scores to a 4-race standard while still having each race count. Got it? Well, trust me, it's the easiest way. The big question is whether you lot thought the night went well enough and would like it to show up in future nights? Let me know. Next League Night: 26th September 8pm Room 1: @BowserBasher is host @Glen-i (Team Leader) @RedShell (Team Leader) @BowserBasher @viceview51 @martinist It's been a jam packed month for special themes, so I had no choice but to put the Team Night at the end of the month in Player's Choice. So you know the deal by now, send a PM to me declaring which team you want to be on, mine or @RedShell's. Sign up Now!
  13. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening The Review is now up! Oh, and in case any of you were wondering.
  14. I'll try my best to get an N-E Review out by tonight.
  15. Starting to fall asleep now. Thanks for the games, guys.
  16. That Ken final Smash - surprise present - unseen beetle backfire was nothing short of miraculous!
  17. Well, I have the results for the other two rooms, so if you could send over who came where in each race. You don't have to send pictures if it's too much hassle, typing them is good enough. (But I will ask @BowserBasher to confirm them if you go that way)
  18. Room's open now.
  19. I'll be opening a room in around 15 minutes. This time it's stamina, it was stock last week, but I said stamina for some reason.
  20. There were some issues with @martinist and @Dcubed. But my room went relatively smoothly. Minor hiccups, but nothing too bad. I have all the results @viceview51 @BowserBasher, @RedShell, how was your lag?
  21. OK, give me a minute. Passcode will be 444.
  22. I'm up for it anytime. Just say when.
  23. Is it not possible to play handheld?
  24. With less than 20 minutes to go, I'm gonna say that I won't be accepting any last minute declarations of INness, it's far too late for me to reorganise all the pairings now. Have fun, and don't forget to record the end results of each race.
