I decided that I wouldn't be allowed to use any Gen 1 Pokemon when playing this.

Ah, my standard way of playing any new generation. I approve!

    Picked Totodile for my starter

Ah, foregoing the most effective starter of the generation for the sake of "adorable crocodile thing". I approve!

how lovely so much of the art on the cards is these days.

The artwork has improved leaps and bounds in comparison to the first bunch of sets, it is legit amazing and I can spend ages just looking at the artwork.

Pokémon Art Academy actually leans into this, as well as the typical "How to draw" lessons you'd expect from it, you can also learn about the guidelines artists follow when drawing a Pokémon illustration for the TCG, some fascinating stuff there.

Feels like a very cheap version of Persona. Production values ain't very high on it.

I mean, that's because it kinda is? Similar battle systems, but with some Fire Emblem flavourings. It for sure has a lower budget in comparison.
And almost any game's production values will look low compared to the likes of Persona 5. Might as well just post that "Nuclear Bomb VS Baby" meme.
EDIT: Although, I bet Persona doesn't hit you with random musical numbers with choreography in the middle of a fight! The animations are a lot more fun there.
EDIT EDIT: Wait, second dungeon, the one with the dresses you move through, right? That means you never even got to the point where you get ad-libs, character swapping, or duo arts yet? Oh man, you've only scratched the surface of the battle system!

Having now played through Persona 3, 4 and 5, as much as I enjoyed them, all 3 of them were paced poorly. Hearing that this is as long as Persona 5 doesn't really fill me with excitement.

Remind me, have you played Tokyo Mirage Sessions yet? I'd say it's about 30 hours long, and I find it way better then Persona (Although that's mostly because it doesn't focus nearly on much on the in-betweeny social bits)

I think the collecting bug bit me when Pokemon cards popped up on a recent repeat of Dickinson's Real Deal. :D

Man, my Mum used to watch that all the time. And I was always there. Being bored, and not knowing a damn thing about what the hell they were talking about. Would've appreciated that just so I could be the knowledgable one for once.

I know full well how insane the prices of certain cards can be these days, but it's still surreal to think that they've gotten to the point that they can appear on some antique auction TV show, and my first reaction is "Yeah, that makes sense".

  6. Yeah, I probably should've mentioned that if you're sticking with another person and you run out of lives, you're better off just eating the Game Over and letting the other person call you and warp you there. That way you get three lives again, and the other person only has to use up battery.

Still, decent progress, found one of the health upgrades and got most of the big switches as well! Not sure how @BowserBasher managed to get an outer edge one without first getting the inner one, but just means that he got two at once.

It'll be a fresh file for me. Also never played it before.

Obviously we don't have to play that it if it's a pain to setup or anything.

Nah, it's fine. Like I said, we haven't played it in a while. I fancy totally not accidentally killing @BowserBasher by accident.

Just be aware, that the game is quite ambitious with it's multiplayer. So it can lag at times. It's not too bad, but it's a thing.

It seems that the TGS listing for the PS5 version is no longer being advertised. I wonder if Sony no longer wants it on the platform due to the lawsuit?

Probably, and it would be the smart move. This lawsuit hasn't just materialised on a whim. There's a very good chance Nintendo have a leg to stand on.

It's amusing, people on Era were speculating that Sony might step in to back up Pocket Pair. Mate, if anything I was certain they'd wanna distance themselves ASAP.

Funniest, well one of them, was going into Grumble Volcano, Glen just needed second I think. Last lap he tried to take that shortcut at the end, over shot and I beat him for second place. He lost the GP by 1 point.

It's one of those moments where for once, it was completely and totally my own fault, and that makes it feel a million times more devastating!
