  1. You misunderstand me here, I never use my Pokémon from previous games until I see those credits roll. And even then, I might wait until I've fought every trainer and such. In fact, I go out of my way to only use new Pokémon on my initial playthrough. It kills the variety for competitive play though. Restrictions are cool when they're a temporary thing to mix online tourneys up now and again. But a blanket restriction forever just sucks. Once a new Pokémon game comes out, Online tourneys pretty much end for the previous game. Which makes perfect sense. But it was never a big deal, because you could transfer your old Pokémon and implement some new Pokémon to switch up your strategy for the new metagame. Game Freak have to start outsourcing if it's too much work, because being able to catch 'em all is half of the appeal. Or stop making games that are remakes. One of them. I'd happily take a delay of it meant I could use a Totodile if I felt like it.
  2. READ THIS BEFORE POSTING! So @S.C.G pretty much came up with this idea, I'm just refining and organising it. It's time to find out what N-Europe thinks are the absolute must-have games for each of Nintendo's consoles. Over the next lot of months, I'm going to be asking you all to help me with this very important task by nominating and voting for games to come up with a conclusive agreement that will be set in stone for the rest of time. Or until another person decides to make a top 10 list, but that never happens! Here's how it goes down. Each console will take up two weeks, one for nominations and one for the final votes. Week 1 - Nominations All you have to do is select 5 games for your nomination. You must select exactly 5 games, no more, no less. Do not order your games from best to worst. Just list them. There's no need to explain your choices here. Once a week has passed, I'll tally all the nominations and the ones that get the most nominations will determine the shortlist for the following week. Week 2 - Final Voting Voting must be done via Private Messages sent to me. This will help to prevent any possible tactical voting. Everyone will get a number of votes to choose their favourite game(s) from the shortlist. The number of votes will be determined by how many people took part in the nominations. It'd be great if you could explain why you chose a game in the PM. I can then use these in the article that will go up on the N-Europe front page. I will abstain from these votes and act as a tiebreaker. If two games tie, I'll decide which game comes out on top. Once a week passes, I'll put up an article with the results on the front page and we'll move on to the next console. Have you got it? Great. Then let's get started. Here are the articles for the completed Top Tens. Gamecube Shortlist
  3. Rocket League

Oh right, that reminds me. Literal tears of laughter in my eyes after that beautiful blunder!
  4. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

I'm hoping that the whole "Orchestrated" music in Dragon Quest XI for Switch came with some kind of deal that included Smash usage. Probably not how it works, but... Dragon Quest has some beautiful music and it would be a shame for it to get the same stingy treatment that Final Fantasy got. I'm quite hopeful about this because unlike Smash 4's DLC, the music is being used as the thrid big selling point of each pack. (After fighter and stage, obviously)
  5. Rocket League

That was great, contact demolitions are just stupid. Next time, I'll put Friendly Fire on for even funnier shenanigans.
  6. Rocket League

I can't! I'm dying! It's too funny! This one will have to be my last game though.
  7. Rocket League

I think I made a Gravity a bit high there
  8. Rocket League

I quite like Ghost Hunt mode. I'm not hopelessly unaware of my spatial awareness. After this, we'll try a few matches with some silly modifiers.
  9. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Nope, I'm just going off of the reveal trailer.
  10. Rocket League

Yeah, I do, but my connection can normally run Smash, so I'm not sure why that is.
  11. Rocket League

OK, @RedShell, I'm heading online now. @Sofiz, because you're using a PC, you'll have to let me know when you've booted the game up, so I can invite you. Any particular modes you want to play? EDIT: Never mind, you're already on, I've sent an invite.
  12. Cadence of Hyrule (Spring 2019)

Yeah, I remember seeing him show up in the original Necrodancer. So it's not too surprising.
  13. Nominations are now closed 18 games got at least 2 nominations and make up our Gamecube shortlist. It wasn't quite as close as the GBA nominations, but this one isn't completely clear cut. It's funny how as time goes on, our choices of games vary more. Just goes to show how good we have it, I suppose. Voting must be done via Private Messages sent to me. This will help to prevent any possible tactical voting. You must choose 3 games and order them from your favourite to least favourite. It'd be great if you could explain why you chose a game in the PM. I can then use these in the article that will go up on the N-Europe front page. I will abstain from these votes and act as a tiebreaker. If two games tie, I'll decide which game comes out on top. Voting closes on the 22nd of June
  14. Rocket League

Is anyone up for some games with @Sofiz and me tonight at 8pm?
  15. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Online Thread

Speaking of... Most of these are from last week. But some of them are from yesterday.
  16. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Online Thread

Can you guys, like, STOP HITTING ME WITH EVERY FINAL SMASH!?
  17. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Online Thread

Well, I was going to go online now. I just assumed everyone knew when @RedShell said so. I did Stock last week, so this time it's Stamina. Room's open, and don't worry, custom stages are on.
  18. It's the Mario Kart League 2019! What is the Mario Kart League? Simply put, it's a weekly meet-up of N-Europe members to play some Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and then shout at each other afterwards. I suppose we could also find out who the best racer is as well. The League is split up into two halves throughout the year. How do I sign up? Post a comment declaring yourself IN! for each week that you'll be able to play. League Nights generally take place every Thursday at 8pm (GMT). Please try to enter the room 15 minutes before that time if possible. If you have declared yourself IN! but then can't make a night, please inform me on this thread before the league night starts. People who frequently pull a no-show with no notice may be penalised. There is an "Always IN!" List for people who don't want to bother declaring themselves IN! every week. Please mention me (@Glen-i) in this thread if you want to be in this list. What do I need to know about League Nights? There are generally two types of League Nights. Player's Choice nights allow players to freely choose what vehicle they use and what tracks are played on. Even though you can choose the track on these nights, please try your best to not choose a track that has already been raced on that night. No-one wants to do Rainbow Road 12 times. Theme Nights dictate a specific vehicle setup and track order that must be followed. Each night consists of 3 GP's, making for a total of 12 races. Please allow 45 to 60 minutes of your time to take part. It is advisable that you add mine and @BowserBasher's friend code before taking part. (Glen-i - 3034-9087-7910 BowserBasher - 8313-9234-5620) How are the points calculated? After each GP, the points you earned will be recalculated by me using this formula. (Total points divided by Number of Players multiplied by 12) Your grand total is divided by the number of GP's you've taken part in, giving you an average score that will determine your placing in the league. This means that even if you miss a night, your score will not be affected, but your placing may change depending on changes in other people's scores. In GP's that utilise Battle Mode, the points you earn are determined by your place, not the amount of points you got. If your total attendance is below 50% at the end of the year, your score will be discounted from the final results. What are Team Nights? Once a month (Except January), there will be one night where the players will be split into two teams. On these nights, the current top two players will be designated the Team Leaders. Everyone else should send me a Private Message saying what team they want to be in. Your choice must remain secret. If one team has way more members than the other, I will ask the leaders to choose who gets moved to the other side. Your points are still mainly determined by your placing, so you still want to come in 1st. The team that has the highest total score on each GP will get an extra 10 points. What is the Champion's Bonus? In an attempt to level the playing field, I am introducing the Champion's Bonus. In each GP, beating either of the two previous Mario Kart League Champions (Glen-i and RedShell) will earn you 5 points. Beating both of them will get you 10 points. This bonus doesn't apply on Team Nights. Any other Rules I should know about? Theme Nights must be followed. However, if you don't have the right vehicle part, let me know as soon as possible. I will try to find an alternative part that has the same stats. During Player's Choice nights, please do not choose a track that has already been raced on that night, it's only polite. Do not rage quit, if I start to notice people "disconnecting" regularly, you may be penalised. If you do disconnect, rejoin the room as soon as possible. You will earn one point for that race. But I'd be willing to discount that GP's score if it would result in lowering your average score. But don't take the mick. Be aware that discounting a GP will affect your total attendance. Remember to let me or the host know if you can't make the night as soon as you can. Have fun! And feel free to show off your hilarious (Or skillful) moments with the Switch video capture! Theme Night Suggestions If you have a suggestion for a Theme Night, please send me a PM with the details and I'll try to implement it. Thanks to @RedShell for the new logo!
  19. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Can you believe that some people think Dragon Quest isn't a big deal in Japan? That's always funny. Anyway, I'm looking forward to Hero. Those menu mechanics look fun. And if my guess is right, that means he'll effectively have 7 different Specials! Snooze looks like it can be devestating for delivering finishing blows. Fair warning, I will try and put someone to sleep and then use Kamikazee on them. Because it'll be really funny. Speaking of that, how mad is it that he has a move that kills himself? He's gonna be scary to approach when he's at high damage! I hope you'll be able to cancel it though, accidently using that move would be a real bummer otherwise. We didn't see much of the DQ stage. I hope it's hilarious.
  20. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Online Thread

Welly well well, looks like you lot had fun. Yeah, I can't host Smash nights for another 6 weeks or so. If anyone is up for it tonight, I'll be available.
  21. Yeah, Wii speak was definitely more effective than the Switch mobile app.
  22. Cadence of Hyrule (Spring 2019)

I found Bard Mode (Fixed Beat in Cadence of Hyrule) to be perfect for learning enemy patterns, and then I switched to rhythm mode because my rhythm is impeccable! It does make the game a lot easier though. The challenge from Necrodancer comes from thinking on your feet while moving to the beat. 4 hours sounds about right for Cadence of Hyrule, I imagine Necrodancer is harder, so I'm not surprised. Could someone ask @Hero-of-Time if the game tracks progress for Link/Zelda/Cadence separately? I liked playing through Necrodancer multiple times because the game tracks different characters progress separately. I'm never beating Aria on that. Bloody impossible!
  23. You know what? @Julius puts my point across much clearer than I did. I get that things have to be cut back, especially when you're a development group as small as Game Freak. I normally get annoyed by stuff getting cut in a new Pokémon game, but I can mostly look past it, because the main point of the game was still intact, collecting and battling Pokémon. But with some Pokémon being cut, collecting them all is no longer possible. That's half of the selling point gone. You ever wonder why Ruby and Sapphire were nowhere near as successful as the previous games? Because not being able to transfer Pokémon was probably the main reason. Creatures took great pains to model all 649 (Julius was right about that, but it's worth noting that some Pokémon have multiple forms, like Unown and Kyurem. As well as Pokémon with tweaked models due to gender differences, like Cacturne, so that's definitely near the 800-ish mark) Pokémon, ready for HD consoles, only to trip at the first hurdle due to not enough manpower. Pokémon Company needs to pump some money into Game Freak so they can outsource to a company that can handle something like world design, so they can focus on other stuff. Oh man, I completely forgot about that one-way trip! Seeing as I don't use Bank for the storage and only when I need to transfer stuff, I'm going to have to be careful about which Pokémon I send to Home, lest they be trapped there.
