MPs vote on cameras to placed inside people's homes
Domo Kun replied to Wesley's topic in General Chit Chat
Although I'm against the principle of these ID cards, and agree that it's very 1984, our details are already in a billion government data bases. Which begs the question, why do we need to bother with them? We should make all new driving licences or passports have the unforgable technology. It seems like a waste of money to me. -
When does this come into force? I'm pleased as I don't smoke, but I do feel sorry for smokers who see smokeing in a pub as somewhat of a ritual.

That's a beauty.

Mao Tse Tung/Myamoto Hybrid? Ah! Now I understand why they're calling it the 'Revolution'! Caught me red handed McCarthy!

My Gibson Thunderbird - Plays well, looks amazing. Very rock and roll. Note, this isn't my actual bass, it's a picture off the internet.

I play le bass. Been playing for about 7 years now. I'd say the synthesiser, because it can immitate any instrument. I suppose that doesn't really count though does it? I like the sounds of violins, pianos and guitars.

I have quite a new laptop, should it have a memorycard reader? the phone has a USB cable but it won't let me access/upload the files from/to the memorycard, only to the phone's memory.

I got the phone, it seems pretty cool on first impressions. I suppose time will tell... I was wondering though, how do I upload photos to my PC? It's confusing me in that area. Thanks!

Where'd you hear this?

Umm... haha Well, I've ordered it, should be with me tomorrow. Thanks for that review site, those images are quite incredible. I'll have to ebay my digital camera now. I just hope Colin's right and Jon's wrong!

Seriously though, in my opinion, if you bought it from a small company, send it back. If you bought it from a rich company, keep it. But I'm such a hippy/socialist.

It's not exactly against their religion. Some belive it is, some belive it isn't. There are LOADS of comic books, cartoons etc in the Middle East. However, in Afganistan the Taliban went around destroying any books with images in them. In Iran in the revolution, many museums were raded and their artworks were destroyed. Also, there would be museums, they just wouldn't have any paintings of living things in them. The Islamic section of the Louvre in France was about 90% paintings/images of patterns and tiles when I went. As an Art fan, I'm pleased I wasn't born a Muslim with this perticular belief. haha Also, if they want to do it then it's really none of our business. Personally I belive that all religious practice is a waste of time, but I don't have a problem with other people doing it.

If you want to get into heavan, then ebay it and give the money to charity.

That's hallarious, but oh my God it's disgusting. I'm deffinately getting an en-suite if I can when I go to Uni now.

Well, there is an interpretation in Islam that says people shouldn't paint/sculpt living things as it's trying to immitate God. That's why, if you ever look at Islamic art, it doesn't normally have living things in it. It's mainly patterns and writing (usually big tile mosaics and the like). I belive there's a similar interpretation of this in Christianity somewhere that isn't really followed by anyone. Also, the cartoons were insulting towards the prophet, just drawing him was a breach of Islamic law, but them being insulting is even worse, of course.

There's been no official word about it. But I'd say it's pretty likely that Nintendo will make a Wario Ware game for the Revolution to show off the controller's potential. Now, part of me thinks this would be a great way to introduce users to the controller's potential. Yet another part of me thinks this will mean the console will be labeled gimicky and it might get off to a bad start. What're your opinions on a game to show off the console's potential in such a way as Warioware?

Well... I do belive the actual quotation from the Koran is something along the lines of 'Women must dress modestly', am I right? I know many Muslim women who don't cover their hair, I know many who do. It's all relative and it depends on how you interpret it. That does mean that for those Muslim women who belive covering their hair is anundisputable obligation of the religion it must be terrible. Similarly, you get Sikhs who don't wear turbans, Catholics who have pre-marital sex, and Jews who shave their heads and wear wigs. I do agree with you, it was stupid for the French to ban religious items. I understand they did it to encourage secularism and reduce discrimination, but I think it will increase intolerance if anything. Children will grow up thinking it's abnormal to be religious or wear religious items. It's also plain stupid not to let people wear whatever they want.

So you're in support of freedom of speech when it offends others, but not when it offends you? Surely there's no difference between dressing up as suicide bombers (assuming it was done in a 'comical' fashion) and drawing an offensive cartoon. Just for the record, I think both the cartoon, and the violent and/or offensive protests were wrong. The only thing I agree with in this whole situation is the non-violent protest.
