  1. I doubt. The Firefox users are in search for a new browser or interested in the browser market. The reason IE7 is so popular is: it's delivered with your system, and people that don't care about browser still use it. All the rest is on Firefox, and those are interested in other browsers, too.
  2. No matter what that article says, it's always going to be a win-win situation for Apple. They'll always get more users using Safari, no matter what. But I found the Firefox-thing interesting: did Steve really not say anything about Firefox in his speech? I'm pretty sure that Safari will nibble of the results of Firefox. People who didn't want to switch to Firefox before, won't be switching to Safari. So Safari will mostly be used by the current Firefox market, in my opinion. Although I switched from Safari to Firefox. One more lost soul, Steve...
  3. Apple + third-party = nonsense. Apple things never really got along with third-party. Look at iPhone apps: only widgetary. Look at Apple TV: only what Apple offers you and nothing else (unless you crack it, in wich Apple nd offers nothing anymore). They've also had a bad nack for being open. Ah well, still love their OS. And Hardware.
  4. Front row has limited codes - you've got to stick with your iTunes and Quicktime movies. But off course, if you take in equatation that Apple has only just begun and their preentation is already better than the one on windows platforms, well. The lack of avaible formats for FrontRow is just staggeringly annoying. But aren't there any third-party application that can help out there? EDIT: Apparantly, I'm wrong.
  5. I'm talking official, you old hack-pot. Why do we all try to find a reason to make my poll useless? "You can run MacOS with some hacks, can't you?" "Technically it would cause the same problems as windows, no?" Will you guys stop it already...
  6. You don't het those a lot.
  7. Agreed with you here, and if you had played MM, you would have come to the following result: TP>WW>OOT>MM Majora's Mask is Ocarina of Time + exciting new gameplay and wonderfull story wich immerses you in the world more than any other Zelda-game. Really, the most wonderfull experience of Zelda ever has been Majora's Mask. Sadly, the only bad thing is the Big Boss Battle with Majora's Mask itself...
  8. We're only looking at what you'de work with. Just imagen it like this: if you'de buy a new computer, would you let it pre-installed with macOS X or Windows Vista/XP? Would you jump on the macos bandwagon if it wasn't hardware-bound, but software like Windows. However, it would give somewhat the same problems as windows, from a technical point of view - but that doesn't matter in this poll/discussion.
  9. It's a completely hypothetical question, dude. Mac OS X is not going to be released from it's hardware compound any day soon, so if it's Vista or XP, it doesn't really matter. it's you switch or not. I want to see if it's the hardware that keeps people away from Apple, or the OS.
  10. If only one thousand people download it, it would still increase their market-share. It's a market that will always give you a bigger share than staying only on mac. That's why SEGA threw away their hardware business and went software. There was a bigger market for them there. Luckily for Apple, they can still throw their software in the open on Windows without abandoning hardware.
  11. I know many of you are Windows users out there, but who would switch to MacOS X if it became freely avaible? You know, if it wasn't hardware bound. Who would use it? Who would switch? Who would stay on Vista? This is no comparison, nor an vs.-thread. Just a question. Let's see if Apple made the good decision sticking to their hardware-bound one and see if they'd sell anything to you guys.
  12. I (don't have Vista, but that wasn't my point) like the Basic one: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/59/Windows_Vista_Basic.png - without the transparant windows the entire system feels lighter. Dark is the new color for all systems - Leopard has that darker plastic, too.
  13. But what can Vista do that XP couldn't? But you're right on the security and stabilty issues, bbut apart from that XP still has more support than Vista right now. I think the five year wait slowed the windows-industry down. I think it was better if they gradually expanded over XP (like macOS X has been doing for years) instead of one massive blowout. Don't get me wrong, it's nice they did so - but from a business point of few it would have been easier to do the transition from XP to Vista and slowly build up for the next-generation platform Vienna.
  14. So... in short, we now need to talk about the two in a different thread because comparing them makes it wrong. At least call it 'the windows® thread' - it's not as silly as the long-lived VIsta, wich will only be out on the market for two years. Vista is looking good, though - but you'de be better off switching to XP, or sticking to your copy.
  15. O'de love to see where exactly this will be in five days. But on the other side, this thread has become the secret meeting place for all those who don't agree with the staff. But like Jordan said, no Staff insulting. Wich would lead to no critisism and therefore to a non-democratic way of lfie with freedom being taken away when the leaders want it. Ah, I finally get the use of philosophy on school.
  16. He said he was keeping an eye on the mac thread since it might be closed too, but he deleted that hwen he edited his 'PM me'-message. Nonetheless, this isn't working anymore. I don't get the feeling I'm free to say what I want here, because I might be banned for my opinions upon McPhee, who can do whatever he likes. McPhee wanted to close down the mac vs. windows thread and wait untill the heat was off to open a new, general OS thread. But he didn't do it and he only made the mob more angry, so he's not sure if he can either unlock the thread (wich would make him look bad) or open a new thread, wich would also make him look like a ridiculous donkey. I hope he doesn't delete this comment, then. Nothing wrong with telling what we're up to, not fellas?
  17. Just wait untill they delete that one because you posted my post, wich was supposed to be forgotten. The times they're a changing. For the worst.
  18. Your mac should jump on standby when the battery is out - so nothing will be lost of your data. But yes, sometimes it doesn't tell me either. And about that RAM - get it replaced by apple, then. About freedom of speech: welcome to what made the roman empire fall: dictation.
  19. I've had the same problems: Sometimes he just doesn't jump out of standby (by no means - he doesn't even jump out if you start hacking on the keyboard). And my link referred to my hate-love relationship with Takeo, making another point that macs aren't perfect . It's sorta an injoke (I think). And yes, Motion2000, I find the censorship outraggious. There was nothing wrong with the thread except for a few hassles here and there. But the police doesn't break up a group of people when they're having an heated discussion, now do they? And the treat to close down the Mac-thread as wel was just stupid. I'm sorry, if that's politics around here, things apparantly have changed. For the worst.
  20. You have to restore the system every once in a while (repair permissions, that is, you find it in your Disk Mounter Ulitility in your additional software). I would also try to find OS X optimizer, wich does everything you need. On the other hand, you'll survive for a load of years without if you're lucky. But I wasn't that lucky.
  21. Clean up your system. There's something with logs of programs... I had the same problem with Dreamweaver once. But don't ask me the details. Just restart your mac and see if that works. Else I'de go and reinstall the software that came with your mac. O-oh, macs aren't immune to problems.
  22. Okay.. just to ask, why exactly is the mac vs. windows thread closed? We have a saying over here in Belgium and it goes like this: freedom of speech. That thread wasn't getting out of hand, now was it? Djezus. And Takeo, that still doesn't explain why exactly Safari should look like any Mac applications. You have, however, pointed out what annoyed me in all windows versions of mac software: the menu-bars. They're so ugly and they disturb the window in these Apple applications. I don't mind the bars in Word or even Photoshop, but in Safari and iTunes it's annoying. But still, the look should have been more windows. It would improve their software.
  23. Don't say what you do not know! God damnit, I'm a designer and Apple's are just made for creative people. Don't think Windows even comes close. If you're a designer, you would have known.
  24. If you at least wanted Photoshop Lightroom, but a straight jump to aperture? Ah, it's because the big Appl developed it, not? Get Lightroom, it's nicer and compatible with all CS3 applications, wich is all a man needs.
  25. Sadly enough, you're running a great OS on a PC. Wich means you are an incredible faker. 'I've got Mac', yeah right.
