Holding ctrl will help with that problem (click ctrl makes tha arrow change into an arrow with a contextual icon in the right bottom corner). or you could use your windows-mouse.

Takeo... Don't you ever read what I write? My two-year old mac has slowed down has hell just like a windows PC. Occassionally a restart is required since it stops working - and not a nice, with-the-click restart, but a rough one - the one with the button press for a few seconds. Applications open half as fast as possible now. When you come out of standby, you can have the chance to have to wait three minutes before you can use the dock or the finder. Safari is a really slow browser, actually - it goes when it works, but after two years I switched to firefox - I had enough of Safari's slowlyness. And Takeo, I was never talking about all the drawbacks. You were. About Windows. I'm just saying that OSX is just as good as Windows, better here and there, and worse here and there. You started on the drawbacks of another operating system, I was just saying that you're looking at it too brightly. If you can meantion me obvious drawbacks of windows I might be able to agree with you, but for now, Microsoft seems to have nailed it with Vista. And about restarting your computer, I have to do that with my Mac too laately, so that isn't an argument...

I know many people who are far moire knowledged with mac. I'm certainly no King of All things Mac - for god sake, I've even been defending windows in order to keep this discussion not to one-sided. i'm not the man of all knowledge, but I do know how to keep the balance even. I just hate it when the most silly things are taken as arguments. And I know hell of a lot of discussing, and it's not saying 'nay' and 'ay' without hearing the rest out. I'm totally in my place to say 'nay' to the mac-fans, simply because I once was part of that crowd, but lately, my laptop has been cursed by slowdown, dropout, blackout, sleep-but-no-awakening and several restarts. I've learned to see the less brighter side of things and I wish to pass this on to those who just joined the mac community and are still wishfully saying that macs are perfect.

Euhmm, I sorta forgot that this forum had other theme's, too. So I actually shouldn't use those damned PNG's, should I? Anyway, you know my opinion on yours and I have altered my stupid remark of the FIFA box (okaay, not altered, posted it in an 'edit'). Here's a repeat: 6/10 - no make that 7/10 - I just liked you better now  -
Sigh, Takeo - you'll never learn. Windows can do loads out of the box, too - Microsoft just doesn't advertise it. Don't be so narrow minded thinking that Apple is the only one thinking of your Digital Camera, or Videocamera. They can sync easely with your mobile phone, they get yours songs on the MP3 player - too. Windows can do loads out of the box - out of the box is, well, barely any defence these days. Yes, macs can do a lot out of the box - but I never said Windows can't. Stop your narrow-minded attitude. We're having an endless discussion. And why? Because most mac-owners can't damit that Windows is seriously worth consideration, too. it has it pluses, it has it minuses - but Apple has the same drawbacks. The thing that makes macs stand out that little more is the finishing touch on design front, and, well, the simple but elegant visual representation. They're easy to navigate and use, and I never found my way on windows - but I haven't touched that much of Vista yet. Macs are in the little details. They have practicly the same look since macOS X's invention and they stuck to it, because the GUI is just plain good. Windows has a good UI, too (and I must say - running XP on Classic is good to look at, and actually very well designed, too) but it misses some touches. I find Apple's dock incredibly nice (and okay, let's be honest, people copied the dock to windows, but macs never saw the light of a taskbar, so it proves something). But you can get your way around Windows nonetheless. But I think that most windows users agree when I say: stop your fanboyism and show your love for mac on a real, objective way. if you ever get to be with a woman you can't always keep seeing only the good. The difference with this comparison is that you have to keep up appearances with a woman, but please, not with a mac. It hasn't got any feelings to hurt. PS: I have a mac, so don't even think of flaming me with the 'you wouldn't know!' crap and then go crying with another man(/mac). It doesn't work on me.

Adn what exactly did you expect? "Hey, you know, we have a mac here, it's not really that good and apart from looking good it runs an OS that isn't better than Windows Vista. Oh, and they cost you a few more pennies. But it's still a great choice! get a Mac" - come on, I thought everybody got the point of advertising. Those macs are great (and some of them are quite right, too - like the ones about trojans and virusses, the oh-so-many windows vista editions, the out-of-the-box-thing, just to name a few). And say whatever you say, but yes, windows is reknowned for it's spreadsheet  - don't forget on mac you still use Microsoft Office for it, and most people get their PC's just for Office. And Wes, sorry to say this: but both OS-es are almost the same. The end-user experience and user-friendlyness is much more important in this case, since - let's face it - both Operating System are quite good and have the same features in there, with the same range of possibilities. Only gaming is the exception, but apart from that, you can do anything on any OS.

You can't read 'Going through the looking glass (and what alice found there)'? Djeez, you must be sort-of-blind. But that doesn't make it a 0, laddy. I don't like soccer, but hey - the artwork is kind of nice (although a little cliched, the face was on every FIFA box or instruction manual). So I'm giving you a nice 7 just for the cheer nice looks, not what it says. EDIT@RAW: cliched doesn't mean copied - it just looks a lot like those images  -

Nice (it's those logos) but I find the 'Better on mac' ill-placed and not anti-aliased, wich makes it look like a 'made on paint'. 6/10 (sorry I replied here again, but when I saw your avatar I just had to say it) -

Nice drawing. I love American styled fat-outlined pictures. Great one. 9/10 -
So you like it? It's my latest creation and is downloadable in full glory back at the art board! But on topic: honestly, wich company advertises it's bad side? yes, macs get less games, and the problem there is market gain. There are barely any developers on Mac because there's little market share and because of that it's market share won't grow. But remember: professionaly seen, a mac is a good solution nonetheless. Also, those great games originaly exclusiveto mac are studios that Microsoft bought and made the games Xbox360 topgames. i'm thinking 'H A L O' here.

An understanding man with a good mind. keep on to it, jolly fella. Now away with this stiny 'british' accent I acquired by watching to much BBC and playing Rareware games, and back to jolly ol' english. And there, I did it again.

Hmmm. As far as I remember, Linux isn't an operating system. Feel free to defend yourself for Ubuntu, Red Hat, yellow dog or any other iteration of Linux stashed away in the corner of the computer world. Linux could have a bright future if it had one, unified operating system making it easier to develop for and more of a competition for the big guys like Apple and Microsoft. Although Ubuntu might be the step forward Linux needs to become popular and since Linux is slowly gaining credibility and fame, well, Linux might be discussed. The only problem is: up untill now, linux is limited to those with severe knowledge of computers - my parents can never start Linux because they wouldn't know how to start installation. Linux isn't mentioned here because Linux is a sleeping giant for now - Whil Apple and Microsoft fight their nice little swords to death. And when they're done, Linux will be there (let the golden age begon (quote: Beck)). Up untill then, stick to your taskbars and start-buttons (microsoft ones, not Linux), docks and whatever-they-call-the-top-bar over at Apple. And what does moraly righteous mean? It's not like Apple and Microsoft have some chineze slaves develop their oh-so-dearly OS-es. Business is business, lad.

Pretty obscure and inrecognizeable... Can't make anything out of it except it's a stage. Wich means you're off with a 5 out of 10 rating. Now tell me mine! It's the first time i've changed since I got here, and, well, i'de like to know what you guys think. Keeper or do I need the old one again? -

He must be e-mo! At least, that's what the drawing and the '<3' tells me. Every bloody time. But! Alas, he has a Gamertag down there, so good job punk. I'll give you a seven. -
I doub t they'll kill Rose - she's got an important role to play because she was, just like Locke, curred upon arrival.

I think my point was very clear, though: get a mac and use your old peripherals. Okay, software is not the same - duh - and you buy a mac because of Apple's hardware. Off course you do'nt get that much choice anymore (although there's heaps of customisation), but I don't like where you're heading with this. If I buy a Dell, I have the same restriction of hardware that DELL provides me. They're a hardware manufacturer, for god sake... That's exactly why macs are so good. If MacOS X was a multi-platform system, it wouldn't be half as good or fast - it's made for mac. It's a computer, for God sake. A nice sparkling new Windows Vista-equiped PC will last just as long as a new spankin' mac does! It's getting annoying that you can only see the good side of Macs, really - I'm sorry to say that (or provoke anything bad here) but you're way to positive. I have a 2-year old iBook, it's running fine, but it's got it's major quirks. Like all of a sudden dozing-off and not waking up again (wich means restart, and that leads me to..) my next problem: shutting of with the power-button held down (yes, my mac stops working occasionally) means it won't startup again untill you've taken out the battery and waited for half an hour to retry. Lately, programs seem to go slower, the startup sequence is less smooth and overall, the Mac is showing of it's bad side. Macs aren't all upsides - you lot. There is fewer application support, there's a great deal of nonsense in it's setup ("Hey, we give you iLife for free so you can make your movies and edit them, but Quicktime Pro? What the hell? It states 'pro', off course you can't have it!") and after using it a year it gets slower - as if Apple really has a death clock in it. Don't get me wrong, I love my mac and I'll defend it too, but only if the defense is sensible and not just fanboyism or what appears to be fanboyism.

That's one heap of bodies there. I'm hoping on at least some revelations this episode (god I'm looking forward to the finale) and then we can countdown those 32 episodes that remain... Yey!

Now let's be honest, we just created the 'bash windows and hail mac' thread over there, almost every single post is over-positive (especially you, Takeo). What's that about those maclovers all the time, even though Windows is a decent Operating System as well (certainly with Vista)? I'm sure that in no time all the Windows-defenders will be scared of by the ever-repeating 'Mac Rulezzzzzz! Windows SuXors!' and it'll end up a 'praise to Steve' thread... Looking forward to that.

But still, you can't make websites with iWeb if you don't have .mac, can you? Or write your personal movie made in iMovie away with iDVD if you don't have a superdrive build in, can you? I must say, Apple's own software is aimed at the newbie user but still is kind-of restrictive anyway. And Takeo, will you stop with putting Apple up on a pedestal? It's wrong to make Apple the most right company ever. I do'nt like your attitude concerning Apple: you can't say anything wrong about them and they're not perfect. Sorry guy, but it just is that way. The file types are a long-lost problem. there are barely any file types that Windows and Macs don't share these days. The only thing I've noticed is that MacOS X makes a special type of file inside every folder to quickly find data with spotlight, but so does windows (5 think they're .dat-files). Apple supports most file types nonetheless. And for those exclusive types, well, they're application bound. Just like Photoshop has it's own file-type, iMovie has it's own filetype, too. If you've only used some Apple-software on windows, well, yes it's restricted, although I find iTunes (even on windows) much better than Media Player (simple because it's so easy to use). But on the other hand, you didn't expect Apple to give you the full monty on Windows, now would you? They'de be killing themselves if they would...

Switch from Windows Vista to mac and you'll see all your old devices all of a sudden work again. Windows Vista is less compatible than MacOS X and it's "iMerchandise". Now here's the catch Shino: you get iMerchandise for free on your mac. If you want such an application suite for your Windows, your paying. You're quite wrong here stating that Macs are incompatible pieces of junkware (slight exageration from my side). Apparantly only Maclovers pop-up in this thread, defending Macs through and through. First of, no - you're not all right to say 'buy a mac', because PC's can work wonderfully fine too. I'm not the pretentious hypocrit to say that macs are perfect, but they are the leading voice of the industry. But just why? Because that's what being the underdog is about. Apple has a 5% market share of the conxumer-based market and therefore must be profiled as being more inovative and better than - you know - the one with 95% of the operating systems at hand. Macs are formidable machines and there's no reason anymore not to switch. With MacOS X Apple stepped into the future, with it's iPod it got a cultural name and recognizeable brand and with it's (back-then) unique designs it's got the brand professional profiling. A lot of developers develop for mac too and there's almost no application you can't find (with the same possibilities, that is, I'm not saying all Windows applications have mac counterparts). No reason not to switch. On the other hand, if you've got a good PC running there with buckloads of RAM and four great processors stacked up to each other, stick to your Vista.

My bad - I thought Microsoft pulled all mac support apart from an out-dated edition of Messenger for Mac. But even so, it's still hypocrit to aim your ads against Microsoft and promote the fact you've got Microsoft stuff running on your mac.
-
Yes, and I don't blame them, it's just their marketing scheme for this is so pafeticly wrong. Let's try to see how... Get A Mac: You can even run Windows!: Yes, I see - it's a great feature, but if your advertisements are based on insulting windows then why offer this one up to? It's so hypocrit. Get A Mac: Macs run Microsoft Office: What the hell? So your promoting a three-year old version of Office that Microsoft has canceled for further development all the way? In a year from now, this office will be ancient - rendered inusable thanks to the new XML-container, so I really don't see the point. Get A Mac, run windows and office on it. let's be honest, how hypocrit can the advertisement get? But okay, even so, Microsoft Windows Vista is quite a good OS and everybody is cracking it down because it has stolen from Mac - but mac just snatched the features and released early. yes, it's called benchmarking, but you don't need to kick good old minisoft for being a little late? They pulled it off anyway (wiuch is, for Microsoft, something amazing, because Vista is their first product with the real finishing touches in the interface).

Sadly enough for you, Mac has fair amount of Cult-following, wich means there will always be sites like this. And don't forget Nintendo has exactly the same band of fans doing exactly that (saying: 'Sony? Nai! Nintendo? Ai!' and no arguments). But you're probably right. I'de tell everyone to buy a mac and I'm fair enough to say that Windows did copy a lot from mac (let's call it 'borrow') - but then again, the defining features of Tiger have been announced almost three years ago by Microsoft for tgheir upcoming Vista platform, whil Apple just snatched the features and had an earlier schedule for releasing them... At least I'm honest enough to see their faults, aswell.

Good point. It's such a classic macho-behaviour that we see with Hobbizno here: talking on a very 'cool' and 'lazey' way to everyone to impress people by showing his non-nerdiness off. How incredibly immature, not? But okay, that's the last I've said about Hoobbizno - as long as he shuts his incredibly self-centric tramp, that is - I don't want to hear anymore of his 'my-opinion-is-it-sucks-andI'm-right'-stuff over here, again, or we'll have to start the 'let's-try-to-see-what-his-IQ-level-is_oh-it's-not-even-sixty' again.
