12 hours! And PS4 because I don't have a gaming PC and have always preferred couch console gaming. This game especially feels suited to couch play. I also don't like the idea of the PC universe being hacked or people cheating. That seems as though it'd be much harder to do on PS4.

Sean said in the Reddit AMA they're working on the FOV for PS4 anyway. Though FOV doesn't affect me. Didn't have any issues with The Witness.

Also the patch only went live yesterday and it doesn't seem like the kind of game you can properly review in half a day. (Not that I read reviews anyway)

I don't have a list of quotes but it seems, before the patch people thought it was good, and now post-patch it everything people were expecting and more. So yes, overwhelmingly positive. 28 HOURS!

I've read that the patch improves a lot of the textures, shadows and draw distance. "It makes the pre-patch game look like an alpha build."

To be fair base building is specifically a fan response - it was never in their original plan, which was to keep the player moving, to urge the player to keep exploring. Base building is great and I'll enjoy it but I completely understand their want to emphasise exploration. It was never a game about staying in one place. But it'll keep interest. We can all explore to our hearts content and then when the next update happens, we'll have found somewhere we want to call home. What interests me is whether these bases will be observable by other players. You'd hope so. My PSN pre-load has started downloading. It's even more cruel that it'll be on my PS4 but I won't be able to play until Wednesday 00:00! EDIT: Day one patch on PS4 is 800mb.

Yeah I see your point. No worries! The response I've seen from people was great, with one saying it was "the best day one patch ever." Hopefully they're right!

Any chance you could post the ones that aren't spoilery at all? If there are any!

The day one patch notes are out. I don't want to read them all but I did see that they've reduced pop-in "two-fold" and they are currently working on base-building and the ability to pilot giant freighters for an upcoming update.

I'm also hoping the same. And yeah sharing discoveries will be great. Where's the best place to host images for free these days?

2 days, 11 hour and 59 minutes! Overall impressions seem to be very good! A few bugs here and there but the actual game has delivered exactly on what it said it was going to. I've regressed to how I was as a child, excitement wise. Only other game I remember being this excited for was the N64/Mario 64 back when that first launched. Pretty sure I was 10 or 11 then.

There is also, definitely, a day one patch to sort out issues. Not sure exactly what they are as I haven't been watching streams but I've heard the overall impression has gone from luke-warm to very positive, now more people are streaming it and not racing to the centre. You know, they're actually playing. Mine hasn't been delivered yet but my Royal Mail post always gets delivered late.

Ah maybe. Think I was playing on and off the whole day yesterday and was alright. I'd help but I'm out tonight.
