The Lillster Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I've also posted this in the Virtual Console thread aswell. Hello i've stumbled upon this neat little trick that basicly allows you to view the Wii shop through Firefox. Follow these steps... 1. Open up firefox and install the 'User Agent Switcher' which can be found here: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/59/ 3. Click Tools 4. Click User Agent Switcher 5. Click Options -> Options 6. Click User Agents 7. Click Add 8. Description: wii 9. User Agent: Opera/9.00 (Nintendo Wii; U; ; 1038-58; Wii Shop Channel/1.0; en) 10. Click OK X 2 11. Click Tools again 12. Select User Agent Switcher 13. Select wii 14. Copy and paste one of these links into firefox and visit it: Main Channel: http://oss.shop.wii.com/oss/common/v...USA&country=US Surf the Manual! http://209.67.106.203/en_US/html/man...A/startup.html Sonic The Hedgehog Page: http://oss.shop.wii.com/oss/common/v...0100014D414845 Source: Here! and Here!
Yoshiking Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Don't have time to try this now, but that looks kinda cool.
Emasher Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 im not sure if it will work on a mac but i'll try it. well i got everything set up on my powerbook but when i put in the links they didn't work.
Charlie Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 im not sure if it will work on a mac but i'll try it. well i got everything set up on my powerbook but when i put in the links they didn't work. It should work fine, there's no reason why it wont, if you're using the latest version of FireFox that is.
SpinesN Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Seems like you can use a gamecube controller to play. Very nice
Elementis Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 They don't work for me either on my Powerbook. Are you sure the links are correct? I get a Not Found error message on all three links. Edit: I think the problem lies in the links . They are shortened by the forum. If I only use 209.67.106.203/oss/common/vc I get a page that says Wii Shop Channel. Unfortunately, that also the only thing I get to see. Could someone type the entire link instead of linking to it?
Nintendork Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Is there any benefit? I mean you can't download to your system and play. It could lead to the possibility of impregnating other roms into your EU Wii though. Like Chrono Trigger perhaps.
Elementis Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I found the original page with all the correct links (://mozy.org/wii). It works now for me although you can't do anything. You can't even browse the store. @nintendork There's no benefit at all. It's just nice to see
flameboy Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 totally pointless, doesn't even look good in a PC browser. Looks pretty naff infact, can't even be bothered to put in the effort to do it. I however will change my opinion if it becomes a means of getting america VC games....
solitanze Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 It'd be good if you could hack and make the cost of the game only 1 point.
Nintendork Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 If you took the website source.. and screwed around with it.. then duped your Wii into thinking the different site is real then that's possible. In theory. Patches, checks and server updates would probably cripple your system.
Emasher Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 well i belive that two of us now cant use it i think that nintendo has fixed the system so only wii's can access it.
BlueStar Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 You can also use the Wii shop browser to view google :P
The Lillster Posted November 24, 2006 Author Posted November 24, 2006 well i belive that two of us now cant use it i think that nintendo has fixed the system so only wii's can access it. It still works for me. http://oss.shop.wii.com/oss/common/vc/W_01.jsp?language=en®ion=USA&country=US
revcube Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I did this yesterday but its pretty pointless, apart from knowing the fact that the Wii actually already has a web browser built in.
Emasher Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 well i tried it again but it was taking for ever to load so i gave up, though i'm on a slow conection right now because i'm not home so i'll try again. i did get farther this time though.
