Posted November 12, 2006 Hi all - my Dad isnt convinced with me buying the Wii, so i need to let him know why its so good and get him interested - he isnt much of a gamer. So im asking you to find the best videos that showcase the wii. Im talking all sorts of games, showing people playing it explanations ect. Any easy digestable information would be useful as well. So in essence this is a thread where all videos and information is put which puts the Wii in a powerful stance. Thanks to all that help and i hope to get some interesting footage. Posted November 12, 2006 If he's not much of a gamer I don't think you're going to convince him with videos. Why not point out you're going to get a new console anyway, and it's much cheaper to get a Wii than a PS3, and it even uses less electricity! Plus the Wii's remote makes you active while you play games, rather than just sat still on the couch. Finally, after all, it's your own money and you can do what you want with it! Finally, after all, it's your own money and you can do what you want with it! well ive explained that its my own money and he excepts that. i tried to show him some videos earlier and he just said 'it looks good' but in a way i knew he didnt mean it. i want to go further and let him know why i want it. as for the movement in games - that really isnt something to say to an unconviced person - thats like a last resort excuse (and tbh, i think the movement thing in general is tripe. people in videos are just putting it on for the cameras-for the most part anyway). im not fat or anything,i play loads of sport so im fine with this. its just he gets annoyed when i go 'can i finish this level' on the gamecube when it only take 1 minute anyway. and then he goes 'i thought you got over this (gaming) and got on with your life' to which i said that loads of teenagers play videogames. he just ignored this. he probably thought i was obsessive when it came to gaming a couple of years ago, but i was just excited that i had a new machine - every gaming family has to go through that. the things i do arent even that bad, ive only lost my temper once a couple of years back. im older now and i can 'cure' my little faults. he just hasnt got any trust in my decision and im very annoyed, because hes right all the time, apparently. so some drastic measures must be taken to get him understanding my mindset about the situation. Also it shows a lot of controller functionality so that will surely make him understand a bit better. Maybe show him about the Wii Channels as well. I think adults would find it quite appealing to know that they can quickly surf the net in their living rooms or leave a message in the one place where you will look. Posted November 13, 2006 You should tell your dad that Nintendo azctually wants people like him realizing that gamlng is not an obsession or a freaky past-time like people think it is now. If it doesn't work to convince him saying that the reason he should buy it is that it's made for people who think like him - to show them that tere's a different side to gaming too, maybe hitting with a hammer on his head or visit 'windmills' with him and let him get hit on the head to learn tha this stubbornness has no use in modern society nor in gaming. That'll teach him. Or get him in the hospital. But my hopes are for the first, because I'm not horridly cruel and trying to convince you to hurt your dad. Not at all. Posted November 15, 2006 If you have the latest NGamer issue, they have the Wii Press Conference from London (the one where they announced dat and price etc) as an extra on the DVD.
