Again, human values. I'm not saying you're wrong — I'd agree with you — but isn't it ridiculous for us to prescribe how we see the world as absolute truth? Isn't it disrespectful for humanity to see Earth's inhabitants as mere amenities that we can abuse as we wish? Isn't it arrogant to think the world is ours, that we are the best it has to offer?

Humans are full of potential, but most are too short-sighted to see just what we could be.

Surely our consciousness — or whatever you care to call our more elaborate minds — grants us something nigh on unique, the ability to choose how we live. It isn't up to nature any more, it's up to us. Do we continue to choose destruction, continue to scorn the world that made us what we are? Or do we protect it, nurture it, see over it as it watched over us?

We are unlike anything else out there, but that is no reason to get so wrapped up in our uniqueness that we forget everything else, neglect that which is around us.

Wasted potential is one of the most painful things to see, especially when it hurts so much and many. That is why it's time to stop living for ourselves. Instead, let us live up to our promise.

But, what is our promise? The entirety of human civilization has only had one goal, making life better for ourselves. Even people who try to protect the enviroment do it to save the world for future generations. People who try to protect animals do so because they feel bad about what is being done. Ending the suffering of animals makes them feel good-improving their situation. Ultimately, everthing in the world has two goals, self-betterment and reproduction, which is self-betterment in a sense. Why do animals eat? To remove their hunger. Why do plants grow? To grow seeds and reproduce, sending on their genes. No matter what is done, who does it, or whatever, the thing is done in the hopes of improving the situation of the person, or thing, that did it, it just depends on what each person thinks is an improvement. I personally think survival is important, so I vigorously support animal testing.

My grandmother has an incurable cancer, and I would of course really love for them to find a cure for that, but not if that means killing half of the chimp population or something like that.

I value human lives, but to me we're not worth a lot more than animals. It's just extremely arrogant to think we own this world and everything in it and that we are better than everything else and are thus free to do as we please. That is like how it was in the colonial time, when the white man considered himself superior over the black population (maybe still is like that right now in some places), while both are worth just as much.

To me, animals and nature as a whole are worth just as much as humanity. Kill nature and you're pretty much just killing the future, in my opinion.

Lets just say testing on animals is the right thing to do all the time.

And if you disagree why don't we test the drug on you.

Human live is more important than anything. We kill things for sustanence of the race of humanity.

1) We test drugs on animals to live longer

2) We eat animals to stop ourselfs from starving

(sigh)

Talking about humankinds superiority seems kind of pointless to me its only by product of evolution that we have developed such an intellect, so its just random chance. We exploit animals and the rest of the planets resources for that matter because we can too bad the people who can do something about it are too greedy to stop and consider the bigger picture in which we all die....... eventually...... somehow.

I'm not plaeased by animal testing and the practices that happen in it, but until we develop a better way of doing it its all we have to develop new drugs for medicine, etc. So just accept that it happens and be happy or sad about it.:hmm:
