Caris Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Anyone got one how do they performe? I might get one to replace my 3.4Ghz P4, but does anyone know how much faster a 2.4ghz conroe would be? I dunno if its worth the money or not. Danka.
Bogbas Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I have the E6300. I have thought about overclocking mine, nyt there really is no advantage that I would gain from that. It's fast enough as it is. But I think now it would be wise to see what the E6400 or the E6700 or E6600 costs now. Here's a some sort of comparison: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2802&p=3
Caris Posted October 13, 2006 Author Posted October 13, 2006 i would get a E6600 if i bought one, i might wait for the croe 2 quads... Damn computing is in a really weird stage.
Guest Jordan Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 We're now in some weird transitional period between dual and quad core CPU's. Either way, don't expect Intel or AMD to stick to one socket any time soon... every 18 months they seem to change them
Bogbas Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 There's always time to wait. And there will be always better hardware coming out. If you want to upgrade the PC and have the money for it, you should upgrade.
Shino Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I'm getting the E6400, and the Core 2 Quad uses 775 socket so no real problem.
Guest Jordan Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Isn't it weird how AMD used to be on top, now Intel are? Same with ATi and nVidia i guess... Meh, i love this industry.
Nintendork Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 AMD + ATi That's a solid partnership.. I hope they work it to their advantage. They need it right now.
Bogbas Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 There has also been talks that intel will merge with nvidia. Wonder what happens then...
Nintendork Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Uniformal system price war. Great for consumers.
Sanchez Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I have a E6700, it's pretty awesome. Much better value than amd right now.
Caris Posted October 13, 2006 Author Posted October 13, 2006 so much more faster will a E6600 be than my 3.4 P4ht? Will i notice a big diffrence in games or not.
Sanchez Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 The difference will be night and day, the bottle neck will be in your graphics card probably unless you have a x1950 or a 7950 ED: I had to guess your specific model of P4, but take a look at this. http://tomshardware.co.uk/cpu/charts.html?modelx=33&model1=432&model2=460&chart=169
