after thorough laptop seaching, i found 3 that i like, good price and features, however i do not know which one to choose

 

these are the main points of what i the laptop to do

 

Play DVD's

Music

Surf the net

Uni Work, programming etc

wireless networking

decent battery life

must last 3 - 4 (possible more) yrs

 

NO Games

None of those laptops will have out of this world preformance,but that is not what you need,,i would go with the Amd laptop also.

Actually for the first time I would agree with Schpick. Especially if you don't care for games, apple could be the way to go.

Go with the AMD. The other two had 256MB of RAM which is totally lame.

 

The battery life would be better with a Pentium M most likely but still, out of those, the AMD is the best choice.

 

Only £525 as well.

 

As for the iBook, £699 is a way too high starting price for their base laptop.

totally agree, i had to upgrade my ram! (2.8ghz celeron with 256mb ram 40gb harddisk, shared graphics) It wasnt great but liveable, but then i started using the internet and it was really slow.

I am quite happy with my Fujitsu Siemens notebook (support is really great even though nothing yet was broken - I only had to exchance the battery due to a error).

 

For your requirements I would go with a Pentium-M notebook - Centrino (all Intel chipsets). Powerfull architecture but low power consumation and WLAN works perfectly.

 

My Centrino from Siemens is a 1.8GHz Pentium-M, 60GB hdd, mobile Radeon 9700, 1GB RAM, etc. and it cost me 1280 € a few months back. So if you don't need it for gaming you get a decent laptop for 1000€ or less (15.4" widescreen) and it needs less power than a normal lightbulb
