BGS Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Just "acquired" this game and I'm having trouble understanding why many fanboys deem this to be an absolutely amazing old nintendo game. So far, I'm finding it a bit shit. There are some pretty annoying "make it or start the level again" jumping bits that are made more irritating by the way Pit controls. Can someone explain the appeal of this game to me? Is it one of those you have to play for a long time before it starts becoming fantastic? Am I just missing something here?

The appeal of many old games is lost if you didn't play them the first time round and thus miss out on the nostalgia factor.

Pit-Jr Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 if you keep playing youll find some cool aspects of the game that would translate into an awesome Wii game. -bow/arrow upgrades, from the shitty one you get at the start to the awesome laser-like arrow at the end of the game and not unlike the one seen in SSB:B. I can picture Pit having some crazy super move that unleashes a barrage of homing arrows to clear out the screen -mini games like 'break the pot' would work out better in light gun mode on Wii -free the stone angels scattered throughout the level with a hammer motion on the wiimote, who in turn will join you in the upcoming boss fight -pure flight/shooter stages, like the last stage from the NES version im sure theres other stuff im forgetting but i also like the cast of enemies, even the highly irritating eggplant wizard
darksnowman Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I got this second hand for Gameboy and I expect it to be pretty good due to all the attention it gets nowadays. Im yet to play it though and Im thinking that in a couple of weeks I might break out the Snes and Super Gameboy and see how much it rocks... or doesnt...
