Fierce_LiNk Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 I didn't want to re-create a thread just for this, especially as discussion had already started in one already. Anyway, i saw this film today. I was surprised. It's actually pretty damn good. Very, very faithful to the original, whilst also being different in its own right. Pete Postlethwaite, David Thewlis and Michael Gambon were excellent in their roles. Imo, Liev Schreiber played the part of Robert Thorn really, really well. I was a bit afraid that they'd cock up this remake, but they've done the exact opposite. They've done the original film justice.
gaggle64 Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 The question is though, why not just stick with the original film?
Fierce_LiNk Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 The question is though, why not just stick with the original film? Hmm. Very difficult question to answer. There is a certain issue at the moment regarding remakes. Such as, fans who question the credibility of a remake, due to their love of the original. I was in the same boat. Although this is a remake, they have not changed things too much to worsen the quality of the film compared to the original, like they did in films such as The Ring. The remake is very faithful to the original film, but it has a slightly more modern day feel to it. I won't say why, but this is evident at the start of the remake. They have updated this film to make it slightly more relevant to the people of today. This is by no means a bad thing. It's actually a pretty good thing. I won't say how or what they have done, as i don't want to spoil the beginning of the film, just in case you do see it. The acting alone, from the actors i have stated above is worth going to see the movie for. Each character has their part played well, and the story progresses well due to this. The remake is an ode to the original. If you're a big fan of the original, i'd say check it out.
The fish Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 What people always foget is "666" is not the sign of the devil. The golden arches M is . Being serious again, the sign of the devil is the words "sixhundred and sixty six", writen on a person's back.
