Towers Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Didn't really know where to put this so I thought maybe here was best. I'm getting a new Graphics card and wondered how I knew if my computer was PCI-E compatitible? Anyone know if I can look in hardware settings of some sort to be sure? I don't mind opening it up but unless it says inside my PC PCI-E compatitble I wouldn't be too great at identifying the right slot.
Towers Posted March 11, 2006 Author Posted March 11, 2006 So it should.. I've never seen that forum before. Move me please admin!
Andrew Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 There's no point getting a PCI-E graphics card if your motherboard only has an AGP slot. Your motherboard's manual will be able to tell you this. Or, to quicly check if your motherboard has a PCI-E chipset, download Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html Look at my screenshot below and notice that it says there's a PCI Express Controller. http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/7121/pcie4pu.jpg
Towers Posted March 11, 2006 Author Posted March 11, 2006 Thanks... I'm AGP as I thought I was but was curious all the same
