Hero-of-Time Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Crazy that this announcement was buried in the sizzle reel. Fans have been asking for ports of the older games to modern consoles for years but Falcom have done one better and remade the first of the trilogy. I expect the rest to follow. The Japanese Direct got a lengthier look at the game compared to what we got. The game looks to be using the XSeed script. I wonder if this mean Cold Steel 1 and 2 will finally arrive on the console? 1

Bahahahahaha until this very moment I didn't even realise it was a remake of the original and did a double take reading your post – my exact response while watching the trailer earlier during the presentation was a very quick "wait, is that a new Trails?" which got drowned out by absolutely everything else going on. Thanks for pointing this out H-o-T, I've been waiting for something like this because none of the ways to play the original ever seemed to suit me, so welp, I guess I'll finally be able to start investing in this series now which is a genuinely scary prospect. Easily one of my most anticipated games of next year all of a sudden, very curious to see whether this is going to be a leaner and meaner or more beefed up version of the game. So, what, I guess 2025 is now just 2024: The Year of the JRPG - Part II; ReMake|ReMastered 724/3 Days Edition? We're still 4 months and right now we've got this coming, Tales of Graces f Remastered, Suikoden I & II Remastered, Pokémon Legends Z-A, Dragon Quest I & II HD Remake, that Ys remaster that I'm forgetting the name of... ...and that's not even to mention the potential of what else could come. If not Kingdom Hearts 4 proper, some spin-off to bridge the gap? Either one of the long rumoured Final Fantasy IX or Final Fantasy Tactics remakes? Potentially whatever Monolith Soft have been cooking up for the Switch 2? Finally a modern re-release of Chrono Trigger for console already for its 30th anniversary?! The list goes on and on. We've been eating good as it is and rather than move onto desserts it seems like we're getting another 7 courses of mains featuring our favourite flavours of chosen one, amnesia, and fights against gods boys. What a time to be alive! Edited August 27 by Julius 1
Hero-of-Time Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 Yeah, us JRPG fans are sitting pretty at the moment and have been for years. Those dark days during the 360/PS3 era where quality console JRPGs were few and far between are thankfully long gone. I had Trails of Zero down as one of my Pledge games but I doubt I'll start it now that this has been announced. 1
Happenstance Posted August 27 Posted August 27 I played a few hours of the original but never stuck with it so I could be interested trying a remake and having the launch hype and discussion to push me forward as its always a series I've liked the look of every time I've seen it. 1
