Cube Posted yesterday at 11:42 AM Author Posted yesterday at 11:42 AM Kuru Kuru Fever JP release: 2003 (Arcade) EU release: N/A NA release: N/A Developer: Takumi Publisher: Aruze N64 Magazine Score: N/A Out of all the Aleck 64 games, I enjoyed this one the most. It’s a colour matching puzzle game using fruit (which means no colourblind issues), which has an interesting mechanic. You need to match groups of four, but if you match four of your character’s favourite fruit, then your whole board will flip, pushing the bottom tiles to the top. Once the tiles drop down to the bottom, if there are any groups of three, these will now form a combo, and your area will then flip again, now groups of two will mix. This carries on (scoring any groups of two after each flip), and getting past 4 will trigger a fever and send loads of tiles to the next screen. I was having a ton of fun, but the CPU is a bit relentless – I went from having a clear screen to my entire area being filled due to an insane combo. Fun Remake or remaster? I’d definitely like to see this expanded with a few more modes as a full game. Official Ways to get the game There is no official way to play Kuru Kuru Fever 1 2
Cube Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago Aleck Bordon Adventure: Tower & Shaft JP release: 2003 (Arcade) EU release: N/A NA release: N/A Developer: Aruze Publisher: Aruze N64 Magazine Score: N/A This is the second Aleck 64 game that got a Game Boy Advance release. While the title screen says “4th Story”, I can’t find any earlier Aleck Bordon, so I’m not sure if he’s named after the arcade hardware, or if it’s just a coincidence. This arcade game includes two different games: Tower & Shaft, both similar to auto jump games, like Sonic Jump and Doodle Jump. Tower In Tower, Aleck automatically runs, changing direction when he reaches the end of the screen. You hold a button to charge up a jump, but it resets if you hold it down for too long or if Aleck walks off the edge of the platform, making it very difficult to time right. Different platforms have different properties, such as moving down, bouncing Aleck, or making him faster, along with some powerups like a higher jump. Your goal is to get to the top of the tower. Shaft Shaft is the opposite of Tower, as you have to make your way to the bottom of the tower, with spikes heading down to harm you. If you go too fast and go past the bottom of the screen, you die. You have a health bar in this, and there are spiked platforms that cause you damage. Both games are simple and short, but extremely difficult. Fine Remake or remaster? This might work well as modes in a mobile game. Official Ways to get the game There is no official way to play Aleck Bordon Adventure: Tower & Shaft
