Locky Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Just noticed this posted by Matthew on Gamesradar: "Now, you're probably going to have to trust me on this one, because I only spotted them putting up the posters for it while I was in Norwich city centre today, but Game appear to be offering a Nintendo DS, Mario Kart DS and Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time all for £109.99. I'm guessing this'll be as of tomorrow, given Mario & Luigi isn't actually out until then, but still. The actual poster said something like 'BIG DEALS' on the top, and referred to buying a Nintendo DS and getting two games for £20 with it. There was a three games for £30 poster too, but no, I didn't spot what the third game was in that one. Forgive the slight lack of facts here, I already have a DS and both games so.. " Sounds a pretty good deal. Will have to check on my walk home tonight. Can anyone who works in GAME confirm this?
Locky Posted February 9, 2006 Author Posted February 9, 2006 I just popped into GAME and here is a list of the deals: Deal 1 = £109.99 Nintendo DS Mario Kart DS Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time Deal 2 = £99.99 Nintendo DS 1 game: either Sims 2 OR Harry Potter & Goblet of Fire Deal 3 = £119.99 Nintendo DS Mario Kart DS King Kong Splinter Cell
ShadowV7 Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Deal 2 isn't very good. One is the best deal there,2 great games and the DS,third doesnt really have good games part from MK
Ashley Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Yeah, t'is a bloody good deal. Shame I already have the games, and a DS. And don't act surprised, we have good deals often :p
Locky Posted February 10, 2006 Author Posted February 10, 2006 Toys R Us are also doing a similar offer to Deal 1 (with a blue travel pack kit) but it's out of stock online at the moment so you'll have to pop into the store if you want it.
Nintendork Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Deal 1. isn't really worth it. 2 and 3 definitely aren't I can dig that the games are expensive, but you're getting a shit silver DS which lacks any style or form of the new DS lite which is a few months away. This thing will devalue to pennies by the time that comes out as trade ins clock up.

The DS Lite is only coming out in Japan in a few months time though so it's not freely available unless you import, and how many people are even going to be aware of it at the moment?
Nintendork Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Anyone who enters a branch of WH.Smith or their newsagents to pick up a magazine and sees it on the cover of a gaming magazine. Obviously it wont be marketted yet because that will canibalise the current design. I'm gonna buy the lite probably, I hate the current design.
Locky Posted February 10, 2006 Author Posted February 10, 2006 It will be interesting to see coverage of the DS Lite in NGC and the new Official Nintendo mag. I'm sure we already know more about it from forums than what they'll have in the mags though! I wish they'd announce the UK and US release dates. Are you importing? I've got a DS so don't think I'll bother getting one just yet.
Ashley Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 This thing will devalue to pennies by the time that comes out as trade ins clock up. Actually they tend to do special deals when trading in for a new console. The PS2 (old style) and Xbox traded in for £50 against a 360 for a while, which was higher than what they were before. Besides the majority of people buying DS' is parents/other relatives who don't know about the DS Lite. We still get plenty of people buying a GBA SP because kids don't always want the new thing. I'd say it'll still sell well. Also, Deal One couldn't have been done weeks ago, M&L only came out today and you're getting it for £10.

Yeah, generally I think people are pretty clueless about new consoles and games until they come out in the shops! You're not really going to know about these things unless you read forums and magazines. Also, Deal One couldn't have been done weeks ago, M&L only came out today and you're getting it for £10. Oh yeah, I hadn't thought of that! It looks a pretty good deal if you ask me. I'd definitely be considering it if I hadn't bought my DS from the GAME in Norwich at midnight on UK launch day! :p
