If you can cast the screen, why do we need to wait for iPlayer/4oD etc to be compatible? Can't you just cast the 4oD stream playing on your laptop?

 

I don't think you do have to wait, just that it will be easier/better to use.

 

I might be wrong though, maybe somebody else can confirm.

Yeah you can, it's just faster/more efficient to do it from the Android (or iOS) apps.

Ah, right. Not much use for me since I have a smart TV, but I can imagine it'll be pretty useful for others.

I'm surprised how few people realise you can just hook your tablet/laptop to your TV. The amount of times I've seen my housemate sitting in the living room, his neck craned downwards watching football or TV on his iPad.

Nah, no point if you have a Smart TV.

 

Fun fact: You can cast to the Wii U Youtube app using your phone/tablet and even from the 3DS app if for whatever reason you wanted to.
