Eenuh Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 So even though I recently got a promotion in work (for which I am still waiting to actually get started in), I am still looking for other jobs. I recently found one online on Reed.co.uk (and on Jobsite.co.uk) and I was trying to apply for it. But it seems like neither of these sites will accept my CV... as it is too big. On Reed, they only accept a file size of up to 200kb, which is kind of problematic as the job application asks you to include samples of your work. There is no way I can include images in a Word or PDF file and keep it below 200kb, it just seems impossible! At the moment the file size is 2Mb... Does anyone know if there is any way for me to lower the size of my file without completely losing out on quality? =(
The Peeps Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I suppose you could put a working hyperlink to an online portfolio in your CV? Chances are they'll be viewing it on a PC anyway...
Goafer Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I've found job seeking websites to be a massive ball ache when it comes to uploading examples of work. They have my CV stored, but no way to actually upload the samples of work, so I either go to the jobs own website and see if it's advertised on there with an email address, or upload my work to Dropbox and send them a link.
Ashley Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 As Peeps said, supply a link to your online portfolio. If you can include at least one sample with your CV do so, as that way they'll know what to expect and I feel (but have no proof) that they're more likely to look then.
Charlie Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 This may be a stupid question but have you tried phoning the company who is advertising the job? They might not even be aware of the issue and could let you email the CV to them directly.
