drahkon Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 One of my favourite genres. Only recently discovered. Rockhard, unforgiving, but generally quite simple games. Anyone in love with them, too? I started with Towerclimb. The name says it all. Climb a tower. It's simple and elegant, but tough as nails. Then came Faster Than Light. Spaceship exploration and fighting with strategic elements. A relatively 'slow' game, but very challenging. A couple of days ago I bought Rogue Legacy. Buy it! It's awesome And today I discovered Risk of Rain. Played the demo and I love it. Pre-ordered. There will also be multiplayer.
Happenstance Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I only have a couple but FTL is definitely my favourite. Ive put so many hours into it.
flameboy Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I've dabbled down the years with Shiren the Wanderer on DS being the 1st I remember (not including old games I remember on BBC Micro). I couldn't do it. I feel like it's a genre I've slowly taken to.... Tokyo Jungle : Arguably the one I've spent longest with and the one I love dearest...progress is determined by how many generations you make it through via procreation, a seperate story mode is unlocked as you play out the survival mode. Dungelot (Android) Dungeon crawler. FTL Played a bit of doesn't work with my laptop so well due to screen resolution issues. There are more I've been playing but really cannot think... I'm slowly building up to one day tackling Dark Souls.
Shorty Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 If Dark Souls counts then it's amazing and I love it and I have touched this genre. If not then it's new to me but I definitely like the look of Towerclimb.
drahkon Posted July 28, 2013 Author Posted July 28, 2013 (edited) Teleglitch is my newest love. It looks a bit, well, shit. It's a top-down shooter with pixel-graphics. But damn, that game is scary. Only done one level (the levels are supposed to be randomized) and I was fucking nervous every single second. I don't even know why...I think it's the sound effects. They are amazing. And the lack of music makes the game even more daunting. If not then it's new to me but I definitely like the look of Towerclimb. It will get a new content update soon. V1.2 After a hiatus from the game which has lasted for almost a year, I will get back to it when the update is live. Edited July 28, 2013 by drahkon
Shorty Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Ah man I better get it now so I can reminisce what it used to be like before the big changes in 1.2

drahkon Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 Its taken me since the game launched but I finally beat the boss in FTL! Whooooop, awesome Have to play some roguelikes again...damn you, Civ 5!
Happenstance Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 According to my Steam account it took me 48 hours to complete FTL lol
drahkon Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 I just bought Spelunky on Steam. Played to 'rounds' and I love it. Will definitely buy it again for PS3/PSVita. It's perfect for the Vita. This was the end of my second round. Didn't even take the game 3 minutes to kill me And by god... Wanted to get a golden idol (which you can bring to an exit of a floor to get cash), but then a fucking boulder crushed me.
Happenstance Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Yeah Spelunky has always seemed interesting, I'm glad it came to Steam. I'll probably wait until its in a sale though I think.
