Rummy Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 It's me again; does anyone know how long the package tends to take to reach them when sent with their pre-paid postage label? Posted it since tuesday, the post office lady said it was 30 min before due pickup; so I would have thought they'd have received it by now but I haven't heard anything to say this? My account seems to say it's still awaiting return. Is that to them, or to me?
Ike Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 About 2 days. Think I took another day for them to acknowledge it on the repair status. Did you not get a tracking number when you sent it off?

Ah of course, being the genius I am I didn't think that the proof of postage thingy contained such details! Apparently it was signed for yesterday by a Mrs Darcy.
Rummy Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 They're saying it's going to cost me £80, despite my renewed warranty from my recent repair(in november). They're saying it's due to cosmetic damage invalidating the warranty(which was there on the last repair) - some case damage and a minor stylus scratch on the bottom screen - but there's also scratches CAUSED by the bottom screen to the top screen - that's not my fault! It's theirs for poor manufacturing! Looks like I'm gonna have a delay for my animal crossing days Does anyone have any information on official Nintendo 3DS warranty, and also the issue of replacement/retrieval of eShop/downloaded titles in event of replacing a broken system or such? I've got so much shit to deal with I wish I didn't have to be fighting this right now, but it seems some fate of the universe just thinks I'm a cunt right now.
Mokong Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 Never heard of "cosmetic damage" invalidating a warranty before.... thought that was only if you opened it yourself or modded it That sucks dude. What kind of damage is it?
Rummy Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 It fell out of my pocket one time when I was bending down to pick up something I dropped - ironically dropping the 3DS in the process. Got a nick on the top, and over time it's been rubbed by stuff in my pockets or so I guess(not exactly sure what, though) - but what do you expect from a console you're encouraged to carry everywhere! The bottom screen as I said got a scratch when a stylus had a burr or something, and the top screen has slowly been rubbing into scratching by the top screen(where the plastic hits the top). The actual major issue for me with it is that, the R button being intermittent - but most importantly the fact the OS just doesn't boot to anything. They're saying all these problems are apparently due to it being cosmetically damaged. If I can at least get the OS working, with all my titles, I can get a new one and transfer(begrudgingly). I suddenly feel like a massive dick for supporting Nintendo - and EXTREMELY put off of anything digital on a handheld now.
Rummy Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Seen a message on my old phone this morning from Nintendo 'This is to let you know the reapir has been initiated' - cheeky gets! They probs won't even do the bottom/top screen scratches issue; but I might allow it just to get my OS on and take the plunge to either a 3DSXL or a cheap ol' regular for replacement. Can't believe this zelda 3DS managed to take such a battering
Eenuh Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 (edited) If there is cosmetic damage to something, you will pretty much alwasy lose your warranty. Doesn't matter if the damage is related to the issue you are having or not. Damage = no warranty = you pay for repair. It's crap but that's the way it is these days. I hope you can still get your DS back in time for AC! Edited May 30, 2013 by Eenuh
Rummy Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Well hopefully so now! Was almost gonna cancel my pre-order and give up on the 3DS - not something I can really splash out on any time soon. It was just more annoying because it was there last time, and that they'd claim that breaking the OS! The worst IS the fact the 3DS itself is manufactured poorly that the bottom half will scratch the top with time. It might be aggravated by lint dust etc but it's a bit of an oversight for something you're encouraging people to carry in their pockets all the time. Bloody hell! Just had a message saying it's been dispatched now! 3 hours between messages, I'm worried if they've fixed anything!
Mokong Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 So how long do you expect till you get it back? Tomorrow? Saturday?
Rummy Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 No idea tbh! I think the postage label for sending it TO them is ParcelForce 48, so maybe Saturday? Sadly I'm going off to the south from tomorrow til monday! :'( (at least still in time for AC...maybe! Though if I lose my parking ticket appeal on monday, I'm def not upgrading to a new 3DS)
Rummy Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 (edited) Well its back! All my downloaded stuff appears to still be on there, but they might have re-flashed the OS because I had to re-set everything; re-create my Mii, and don't seem to have anything in my mii plaza etc Bit of a shame losing all those bits, but I guess tis the way it is now. They haven't really done anything about the scratches on the top screen, though. Seems I've lost my friends list and all my stats too. Edited June 3, 2013 by Rummy
Londragon Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Gutted, why'd they wipe all that? I'd be tamping mad.
Rummy Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I'm assuming because it was an OS issue, and I'd guess those are built in as part - it's strange because if I go to miimaker its icon on the top screen still shows pictures of my old miis; leaving me confused as to whether they are really here or not. It's not the end of the world, but it is a bit annoying given they're all such sort of time based things.
Rummy Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Big ol' bump from me - anyone ever has a BSOD on their 3DS? I sadly opened mine up to one yesterday when I thought I'd go for a bit of a walk past some relays All my googlings seem to turn up flashcart related results though, which I've never used! Wondering if they might say I have?
