I had no problems doing my transfer across, but I've just spent the best part of this evening trying to help a friend via facetime who was stuggling.

He has downloaded both Transfer tools and starts off on the Wii U putting in an SD card when prompted to prepare for use on the Wii.

Everytime it just skips to the next step without preparing the card or connecting to the Internet.

Anyone got any ideas why?

I couldn't connect my WiiU to the internet at all earlier. I was get an error code, which I looked up online, which meant the servers were too busy. So perhaps it skipped the step because the connection timed out. Perhaps it'l work tomorrow or in a few days?

There was no error code displayed and also the write protection look was not enabled. We have also tried 2 different types of SD card brand and nothing working.

Beginning to wonder if it is the SD card drive that is not working...

anymore ideas anyone?

I've actually been meaning to ask.. for anyone who has transferred their Wii data to the Wii U console, do VC games that didn't support the interlace mode on Wii now work through HDMI on the Wii U? There were certain games, such as Sonic, Streets of Rage and Golden Axe that wouldn't work through component on my Samsung TV :hmm:

Yeah, I had 2 games, Castlevania and Zelda II that did not work on my LG TV on Wii. On Wii U, though, they work fine, so thats a major upside of the console. I just hope'd it would automatically detect the correct aspect ratio. Now every game is stretched to 16:9, and every time I play 4:3 game, I have to manually change it from the TV's setting.

No big deal, as 4:3 games are a rarity nowadays, but still something I hope will be adressed later.

The transfer from Wii to SD Card doesn't take too long, but from SD Card to Wii U does take a while. The reason is, the program doesn't transfer the Virtual Console games to the SD Card, instead, the Tfansfer program downloads the games you had in your Wii's System Memory. So, if you want the Transfer itself to take less time, delete all your games from Wii's System Memory and download the yourself at a later time.

Hope that made sense.
