EEVILMURRAY Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I'm trying to get into my Wordpress account and I'm finding it most troublesome. I've forgotten my password and the "forgot password" link gives you an email with a link which when clicked says "key not valid" so you can't reset the password. I tried some Googling and some results [from years ago] recommended downloading these two files and uploading them to your site, which I'm not sure how to do since I can't login in the first place. Also mentioned something about SQL or MyAdmin, which I know shit about but I don't understand how I can change my password from there if I don't know how to login into that to begin with. Helpsings?
Shorty Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Uploading files would be done via ftp, not using your wordpress login. Or you might have an online file manager with your hosting company. Similarly phpmyadmin login would start at your hosting control panel and not with your wordpress credentials.

See, half of that has gone way over my head. I know I have no hosting though, because I was going to see how Wordpress went before I invested in anything.
Ike Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Is it hosted on wordpress.com? If it is you'll probably need to email them, or your email client is messing up the rest password link so you need to see if you can fix it somehow.
EEVILMURRAY Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 http://wordpress.org/support/topic/lost-password-link-in-email-not-valid-key-fix-does-not-work Could anyone translate this for me? I don't mind remixing code but I don't know where to go to actually do it.
Shorty Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 If your site is just hosted with Wordpress; I don't think you can change the files, but then I can't see how anything would've gone wrong with them in the first place.
EEVILMURRAY Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 I've managed to sort it out via remixing the link they gave me. For some reason it was ending with a %E3 after my username which when deleted took me to the correct page... Wordpress are fucking idiots. Feel free to lock now.
