EEVILMURRAY Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Recently I've been plagued by popups from AVG telling me about multiple threats, this has happened several times over the last hour so I decided to update and run a whole computer scan, which it says it's done in "under a second" and found nothing, and a few seconds later more threat popups appear. Normally a whole PC scan takes at least 30 mins to finish.
MoogleViper Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Yeah that sounds too quick to me. Are you sure you have your hard drive selected for scan? Also try going into the advanced settings to see what is selected. (Sorry, can't be more specific as I don't have AVG.)
EEVILMURRAY Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 I went into the advanced settings and selected everything but the same result.
Shorty Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Maybe something has messed with AVG, try running an alternative like Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast Free
EEVILMURRAY Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 After numerous restarts after telling me I've just gotten rid of a trojan. It seems to be scanning normally now (IE taking an hour) and the raping popups have stopped. I've got it scanning again just to make sure now. Weird. I must've just nipped it in the bud.
Mokong Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 As Shorty says I'd running a different Anti-Virus software just to be sure. I use Microsoft Security Essentails now and finding it better than AVG which I used previously
