I've heard it's somewhat lax with accurate historical interpretation.

 

A gross falsification.

 

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

 

Knew it already. ;) As randomly ahistorical as it is, for the most part it doesn't really matter to the story. I think, if anything, it's to make it a tad more accessible to the wider world - Winston Churchill is a character pretty much everyone in the English speaking world knows already, as is Heir Hitler as an antagonist/approaching evil.
