Svt4Him Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 At work they are looking for a name for a computer program: What's in a name?: Just ask the folks in the Information Services Division (ISD). They’re trying to come up with a name for a new system that’s going to replace WORMS (the existing Work Order Request Management System). It’s got to be catchy, memorable, and maybe even fun. And, of course, it has to reflect what the application actually does. Here’s what you need to know. The application The new application — that’s currently using the uninspired name “Request Management†— will allow staff to order ISD products and services online using a sleek new “shopping cart†style system. It manages and monitors these requests and allows customers to view the status of their orders. The new, more intuitive application, set to launch early in the new year, will allow staff to easily point and click to request any of the following: · New software (e.g. Acrobat, MS Visio, SnagIt) · New computer hardware and accessories (e.g. mice, keyboards, monitors, PCs) · Add or move a computer or phone · Set up voicemail and other related items

Haver Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 YourBackend: 'YourHost', 'YourSite' etc parody - hints at internal, subservient mechanisms - obvious 'bum' joke.
