Jack Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 No mention of Dangerdoom yet? I'm surprised. I've found that The Mouse And The Mask is probably the kind of hip hop that would appeal to you lot, and can ease you into finding out that good hip hop is a million miles away from the guns, girls and gangster R&B that towering shitheaps like 50 Cent continue to grunt out. It references and samples cartoons like Sealab 2021, Space Ghost: Coast To Coast and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. At the very least, give "Sofa King" and "Space Hos" a listen. They're probably the most accessible songs on the album.

uncle_buckman Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 I played Dangerdoom to death and I reckon Mm... Food is better now? Elniro has some good albums in his list. The forum crashes on me when I post so I ain't writing a detailed list again. 1. Grayskul - Deadlivers 2. Cage - Hell's Winter <-- Doesn't make the top fo being too 'emo' 3. Kanye West - Late Registration Cunninglynguists - A Piece of Strange 4. The Game - The Documentary Kanye West - Late Registration 5. Young Jeezy - Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 Beanie Sigel - The B. Coming Ras Kass, Mylo, Snoop Dogg (Swap Snoop for Young Jeezy) The Diplomats (Memorial Day mixtape) Bloc Party, The Mars Volta and Common had good albums too. Copz is Coming by Purple City, Con Queso by MF Doom,Galvanise, Feel Good Inc, The Bravery single, Rock n Roll Queen, Dr. Pressure, that dub/reggae track that The Ordinary Boys done, Black & White town by The Doves were all great hits. Unearthed Gems; Album - Gill Scott Heron - The Revolution Will Not Be Televised Single - Elliott Smith - Angeles
Rickoss Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Frances the Mute - Mars Volta Lullabies to Paralyze - Queens of the Stone Age Blinking Lights & Other Revelations - Eels In Your Honour - Foo Fighters How Strange, Innocence - Explosions in the Sky Probably others I've forgotten, too. Edit: Ah yeah, With Teeth - NiN too.
Rickoss Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 See, compared to other stuff by Foo's, I don't find In Your Honour heavy :-/ I was expecting stuff like 'My Poor Brain', 'Weenie Beanie' and 'Enough Space', but I was disappointed Yeah, what annoys me most about their latest album is the b-sides they've left out are far better than the album tracks. Some really heavy stuff was left out. Love the acoustic though.
Owen Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Panic! At the Disco!- Fever You Can't Sweat Out The Rasmus-Hide From The Sun Mae- The Everglow All-American Rejects- Move Along! HIM- Dark Light Jacks Mannequin- Everything In Transit Unknown bands: Jump! Little Children (espicially the song Cathedrals) Elkland (80's sounding, techno like emo, very hard to explain but great) 10 Year old band just bought: Def Leppard (what took me so long? lol)
EchoDesiato Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Foo Fighters- In Your Honor. Great album. Dave Grohl and his comrades play fanatastic. The second cd on the album isn't as great as the first one though. Queens Of The Stone Age- Lullabies To Paralyze. Album of the year for me. Didn't quite like it at first but after letting it spin a few times it really grew on me. The songs are really catchy, and they have cool lyrics. Queens Of The Stone Age- Over The Years And Through The Woods. All the great QOTSA songs live on cd and dvd. Their live performances are vere energetic.
rizz Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Yeah, what annoys me most about their latest album is the b-sides they've left out are far better than the album tracks. Some really heavy stuff was left out. Love the acoustic though. Areed, I mean, how amazing is 'World' demo
Ramar Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Panic! At the Disco rule!!! Where you going to see them live? London Astoria, January 27th.
Rickoss Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Areed, I mean, how amazing is 'World' demo  Yeah, replace Resolve and Last Song with World and FFL and you've got a great album. Still not as good as their first three, though.
Owen Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 London Astoria, January 27th. Damn it! Taking Back Sunday are at the Norwich UEA the same day! So as my bro is going to that i can't go to the Astoria to see Panic!...saying that though it's a fair bit of travelling to get there and i would have to be in the mood 100%. I absolutely hate travelling.
