Posted December 27, 2009 I want a PC. I want to play games that look fairly shiney. This is probably all I will use it for mainly. I've been using a Mac for the past 2-3 years so I don't have a bloody clue where to start. Can anyone recommend any pre-built boxes? Or a nice build on one of those sites where you put in the parts and they build it? I'm not looking to build one myself. All I need is the box. I don't really want to spend any more than £600 Thanks. Posted December 27, 2009 What type of games you after playing? Are the high spec games or low? Do you run other programs whilst playing games? I'd go looking on ebuyer/play that sort of area to start with, there's alot of spec you can get for 600quid. Would you want windows 7? A monitor to go with the package or just a tower? /overload. Posted December 27, 2009 Well the only game I have really been playing for the last year or so is world of warcraft. Might play some other RPG's. But then I know some people who play Race Driver: Grid, and I know that takes some power. Would also like to play some shooting games, but I have no specifics in mind. If I am playing a game, that is all I will be doing. Just the tower. I imagine Windows 7 will be the most future proof? I guess the main problem is graphics cards. Posted December 29, 2009 Not a bad deal, but keep in mind that an OS is extra and I'm not sure if they throw in any extras such as a mouse or keyboard. Posted December 29, 2009 Perfectly reasonable machine for the money really If you know a student or indeed ARE a student, do yourself a favour and get a cheap copy of Windows 7. If I downgrade that to the have the same cpu, and stick in the graphics card I want, I can get it for £420. Just under £500 with the OS. Nice one. Looked up that student offer. Well we have a PC with Vista but are waiting on a replacement graphics card which won't arrive until after the offer ends :-/ It all seems unclear to me anyway, is the full version they're offering or just the upgrade? Posted January 3, 2010 Well you might like to know i've taken the plunge, and expect to have a PC within 2 weeks. It will be the first (working) windows platform i've had in about 5 years! Posted January 3, 2010 That second one McPhee suggested off dinopc. Sure is! I've had this Mac Mini all to myself for the last 2 years and it's great having access whenever you want! I'll still be using it for general net access and playing music and such, but it's lack of available software (and power needed to run what software there is) has led me to get this PC to have alongside it.
