Shorty
I don't know what those are, but I just searched iTunes for them and Nimbuzz is there (free) but I didn't find anything for "Wefi".
Caris
I downloaded a App called AppBox Pro today, it has loads of handy things in one.
Wesley
The Telegraph is the best news app I've used so far, a lot better than Sky News and The Independent. Echofon is what I use for Twitter, last.fm is good for listening to stations on the move, Google is okay for quick access to Google services (it just opens them up in Safari)... er... Dictionary is good. TVGuide... I can't think of much else.

It's similar to Wifi Trak (finds free/open wifi hotspots), but free. There's probably a few other similar, free ones somewhere on the iPhone store. I don't know how different eBuddy on the iPhone is than other versions, but I found Numbuzz to be much better.
