ReZourceman Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 I have downloaded the driver but it isn't working or doesn't detect it. Tried Googleing it to the max for over an hour but nothing works. Any ideas?
Wesley Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Backup, what system you got, what soundcard and what driver have you tried to use? And how did you try to install it?
ReZourceman Posted June 6, 2009 Author Posted June 6, 2009 System? Erm....Packard Bell? Is that a system. Soundcard? Erm...dunno...I tried to download HD Realtek as thats what I had before, and I downloaded it, double clicked setup, then it downloaded and asked me to restart.
Wesley Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Right click My Computer on the desktop, go to Properties, then the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button, you should see a device (probably in the Other Device section) that has a big yellow question/exclamation mark on the device, this should be the audio device and would say something along those lines. Right click this and press Update Driver and then click "No not this time" on the option and then "Select own location, advance" (or something, the second one anyway) from the option and next again. Now, on this page uncheck "Search removable media" and on the second check box click the Browse button and go to, My Computer>C>Program Files>Realtek>Audio>Installshield and then press okay and next. It should find the files and copy them across. This is all from memory because I had the exact same thing with my girlfriend's laptop on XP last week.
ReZourceman Posted June 6, 2009 Author Posted June 6, 2009 Hmmmm that would seem as if it would work....but...theres only two with exclamation/question mark, and neither are audio. Tried doing audio codecs, but it said "the one you already have is better" effectively. Annoying. Thanks for the help anyway d00d, I really thought that'd work.
Wesley Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Open up the Device Manager again, and make everything visable on the lists, print-screen and upload somewhere for us to look. Also, I take it you bought your PC from some store or online. So it should have a nice big fat sticker with a model number. What is that? A Packard Bell...
Cube Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Check your sound setting in Control Panel and make sure it isn't set to surround sound.
McPhee Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Are there any drivers on Packard Bell's website? System builders usually host the correct drivers for their machines. Also, check Control Panel -> Sound and make sure you have the right device set for playback.
ReZourceman Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 Not letting me download the drivers from the Packard Bell site. The links seem to be broken. This web page is not found.
