CoolFunkMan Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 GametrailersTV have the first look at the new Wolfenstein game in the latest episode: http://www.gametrailers.com/gametrailerstv_player.php?ep=52 More info: In Wolfenstein you play B.J. Blazkowicz, a highly decorated member of the office of Secret Actions(OSA). You are sent on a special mission into the heart of the Reich to investigate evidence of the Nazi’s possession of a new and mysterious power. While behind enemy lines, you discover they have done much more than develop a new weapon. The Nazis are harnessing the power of a dark parallel dimension called The Veil; in order to create a weapon of war-ending magnitude. Move between the Nazi’s dark reality and yours as you command an enormous arsenal of Resistance and Axis Weapons. You can also turn to the Black Market for weapon upgrades, or unleash the Nazis own dark powers and perverted science against them with supernatural weapons and Veil-enhanced firepower. http://www.wolfenstein.com/ It's good to see Wolfenstein is back, and I'm actually suprised that this installment is going to have a deeper storyline. The Veil powers should be interesting too. Okay, so it's nothing revolutionary, and the graphics aren't as good as some other games out there, but I think it'll be a great experience.
Dan_Dare Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 this will suck. it will suck so very, very hard.
Nolan Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 this will suck. it will suck so very, very hard. And yet.....I will buy it anyways due to my Wolfenstien fandom.
Nolan Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Hurray another WWII FPS! Wolfenstein is not just another WWII FPS. Sure it's a FPS and it's set in WWII....but that's kinda where it ends.
flameboy Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Well the last one I played on the xbox sucked so doubt I will pick this up.
S.C.G Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Hmm this sounds like it's going back to the roots of the series... allbeit adding a modern twist to it as well but I reckon this could be a half-decent re-imagining rather than the Wolfenstein in name only shooters that came out on the original Xbox.
Choze Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Who is it made by? I dont think they are aiming high obviously but it could be fun enough.
Nolan Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Raven. Blasted 10 character limit keeping me from giving a concise one word answer that doesn't need more than one word.
CoolFunkMan Posted August 21, 2009 Author Posted August 21, 2009 I got this yesterday, and had a few hours with it, here's my two pence... As a shooter it's pretty solid; lots of action, ott violence, and a hell of a lot of fun! Sure, it's nothing original, and the graphics aren't as amazing as the majority of games out there, but this is a game that doesn't need all that. It takes the best elements of other shooters (RTCW, Prey, S.T.A.L.K.E.R) and does them really well. It's suprisingly open-ended too, with the main 'midtown' section acting as a hubworld to various missions. Of course, there's plenty of shooting to do, areas to explore to discover intel and gold/treasure, plus there's two resistance HQs to receive missions from. The world's also filled with npcs, scripted events and other interesting locales. The weapons are excellent too, and are enjoyable to use; from standard WWI machine guns and rifles, to crazy mystical Nazi weaponary. Upgrades can also be bought from 'Black Markets' found in the hubworld by using gold/treasure found within the world. It's very rewarding to unlock these upgrades, and it actually helps aid combat. The Veil Medallion (that lets you transport between the normal realm, and a supernatural realm called 'The Veil', natch) found early in the game is interesting to use, and actually does result in some small puzzle sections, even if they are a tad simplistic. I don't find myself using it that much though, but it's still fun to use, especially when gunning down Nazis in bullet time. I honestly recommend this game. It's nothing revolutionary, but a solid shooter that's simple and to the point. Plus it's fun, and aren't all games meant to be about that?
