Ok so here goes thought I'd start a new thread for people to help me with my purchasing decision.

Basically which should I get? I plan on getting a full band set at some point in the near future. Whats the deal with the compatiabity? I can't remember where resolving it was up to last time I looked. Which is the better game and which has the better instruments? RB seems to have more songs I will like! Also the DLC seems to be cheaper per track?

Get...

Rock Band : Band in a box

Rock Band - the first game, cheap on it's own

Rock Band 2 - the second game for w/e price

Guitar Hero : World Tour (solus)

Guitar Hero : Metallica (solus) when it comes out

Load up Rock Band, let it update and shizzle, do the transfer song license thing, load up Rock Band 2 and enjoy all the songs from the RB1 disc on RB2.

Instruments for RB are generally better, the drums are anyway, the only weak aspect of the RB Guitar is the whammy bar, they can still take some punishment but my brother somehow managed to sort of break the whammy bar on the RB one >> GH Guitar whammy bar feels more solid, microhones... they are both USB mic's no better or worse than each other.

Also if you can wait, the RB2 instruments will be better than RB1, DLC is better on RB but GH has all the Metallica tracks, so as I suggested, get both games if you can.

Oh and unrelated but, still interested in that Megadrive II?

And thats pretty much all there is to know. : peace:

What he said^

Although you would have to wait for RB2 to come out due to M$ underhand shenanigans.

I have both for PS3, and for me, RB is the better game. But whatever you decide to get, we should get together online for some Band action. (I think Cookyman has WT so we could get a N-E band together?)

Yup I've got Guitar Hero World Tour and have the full kit for it. I also got the drum tuning kit and I have to say the drums work brilliantly.

(Black Betty is a fantastic DLC for World Tour)

Rock Band 2 is coming out on PS3 March 27th. I'll rent Rock Band one get all the tracks from it on my hard drive - should keep me busy for a while

UK Rock Band fans, you better bust out your plastic instrument polish, because you're going to want to have your gear in tip-top shape when Rock Band 2 releases. For PS3 and PS2 gamers, the sequel will be available on retail shelves March 27. For those that have subscribed to Nintendo's console, the game is coming a little later, as it has been set for a April 24 release on Wii. PS3 gamers will have to shell out a cool £49.99 for the title, whereas Wii gamers will only need to spend £39.99 on it. PS2 gamers catch the biggest break in the price department and will only have to spend £29.99 on the game, although one could argue it's barely Rock Band. Instruments will also receive a new price and will be set accordingly:

Stand alone guitars will retail at £39.99

Stand alone drums will retail for £49.99

An "Instrument Edition" including drums, guitar and microphone will retail for £89.99

Also, consumers in the UK will now be able to purchase the "Instrument Edition" along with the Rock Band software together for £119.99 on PS3 and Xbox 360, and £109.99 on the PlayStation 2 and Wii. Are you ready to rawk?
