MoogleViper Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Does anybody know how I can reset to factory settings? I have a Dell Inspiron 530 on Vista. I tried booting the Vista disc but that just came up with system restore.
Emasher Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Format your hard drive and then install the OS.
Mr_Odwin Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 There may be a restore partition on your hard drive that you just need to boot to. Google "how to use dell restore partition" or something like that.
RoadKill Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 It should have come with a utility to boot from a CD and restore a factory image, if not, then as Odwin suggests, they often stick the restore data on a hidden partition. Check the manual that came with the laptop originally, it'll probably tell you what key to press on startup to access it.
Ike Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 When I had my DELL laptop I had to press one of the F keys when booting to get the restore to factory settings option, though I forget which one it was.
