Deathjam Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 WAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT! count me in! Just give me an hr to get home from work.
dwarf Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 You need melee kills too? I guess it'll make it quicker? And we haven't been online so don't worry. I have had an economics exam to do so I've needed a chance to unwind i.e. nap so really feel like doig something online today.
That Guy Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 I truely hate the end of Killzone 2. The lack of checkpoints for the final battle pissed me off so much I don't want to ever play again. I really enjoyed the first half of the game and think it steadily went downhill from there. Tried the multiplayer and just felt like I'd missed my window for trying a multiplayer game :p
Daft Posted July 4, 2009 Author Posted July 4, 2009 When I first played through Killzone 2 I did it on the highest available difficulty. I got right to the last room in the game. Gave up. Started again on the easiest difficulty and ran through the game knifing everyone. The knife is so much fun to use, I cannot stress it enough. It's the weapon I have the most kills with. I might actually go back and do it again.
dwarf Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Campaign - 5/10 Online - 9/10 Overall - 9/10 because I didn't buy it for the solo effort and the campaign doesn't take up much playtime in comparison.
LegoMan1031 Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 I only played through the campaign once. Thought it was ok but quickly forgot about it. Multiplayer is excellent though!
dwarf Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 (edited) No doubt Choze will be ecstatic at the news that there will be new DLC, this time it has different game modes and weapons however and each map will be updated to include the new additions. Trailer here: May or may not get it, looks interesting. Edited July 6, 2009 by dwarf
flameboy Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Is the DLC worth getting does it offer enough new stuff? Gotten back into this a bit with a few games yesterday, but will probably switch back off it when Battlefield hits.
dwarf Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 No I'd say it isn't unless a lot of your friends play on the new maps. They're good for a week or so but I wouldn't say they demand £5 each pack of 2. They'll probably give a lower price for them at some point.
The Lillster Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I decided to get the halghast costume for Home yesterday. Bit of an odd thing to spend my money on but it had to be done.
Deathjam Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Killzone 2 Multiplayer gets DLC weapons boltgun and flamethrower Hmmm surprised I got to this before choze. Also disgaea 3 gets trophy patch. Mind you, just like other patches, its not retroactive. Really happy that I held off on playing this. Good things do come to those who wait
dwarf Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 I always said the bolt gun should feature in the game in some form.
Cookyman Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Nice. The new maps looks good. Playing bf1943 really makes me appreciate how the shooting feels in KZ2. The shooting in 1943 is pretty darn good - love the ping as you reload your rifle. KZ2 DLC looking good but enough already - costing me a fortune.
flameboy Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 The shooting in 1943 is pretty darn good - love the ping as you reload your rifle.KZ2 DLC looking good but enough already - costing me a fortune. Yep awesome sound byte that!
dwarf Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Well I prefer the rifle in 1943 because it seems like it works exactly as you want it, I'm at ease with it anyway.
Foxfear Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Is the second DLC-pack even worth it?? Or should I wait for the new one?
MATtheHAT Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Is the second DLC-pack even worth it?? Or should I wait for the new one? I bought both packs and, to be honest, they are not worth it. The only decent-ish map is the one with the Nuke. Also, Guerilla Games should have a word with DICE, Battlefield 1943 is how you do controls.
MATtheHAT Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 (edited) No. The controls in Bf1943 are very slow. Some were complaining about 50ms delays in KZ2. In BF1943 its closer to full 1000ms delays. Plus its worse when you combine actions. The map packs for KZ2 are much nicer than the entirety of BF 1943 so far. You do know that 1000ms is 1 second right? Therefore what you are saying is there is a 1 second delay between me inputting a button command, and the action taking place on-screen? Really? Or are you talking about latency? In which case I have not noticed any Lag whatsoever. Oh, and Wake Island > Any KZ2 map. Edited July 12, 2009 by MATtheHAT
MATtheHAT Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Yes. Heck run and try to shoot. Takes longer than a second. Try to melee. The controls are even worse than Bad Company. Also this is the weakest representation of Wake Island so far. Hardly any difference between the maps. When you are going from running to a shooting position, there is a delay built into the game mechanics. Its just trying to add a little risk/reward strategy. 'Do I run towards that sniper for the quick kill? Or do I walk with my rifle aimed in case he turns round'. Bad example, but the best I can give. However, when I press R1 to fire my weapon, there is no delay that I can detect, its instant, like any other shooting game. I think whatever 1000ms delay you were referring to was probably the latency when the game first launched. Teething problems that most online games suffer.
dwarf Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 (edited) I'm sorry Choze but you just expect everything to be like KZ. 1943 is a solid shooting game that mixes things up because of the different vehicles and action. The shooting and melee stuff is about as good as they could've made it. It is a great team game and I like it, as do I like KZ and R2 and others, like Unreal. Edge rated it a 9, which is better than the 7 it gave KZ, so it is fact that it is better than KZ. Unarguably. Edited July 12, 2009 by dwarf
Cookyman Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Killzone 2 'Napalm & Cordite' expansion dated for July 23 The first rumblings of Killzone 2's next DLC pack, Napalm & Cordite, came over the wire last week. Now we have a date -- and details. Hitting on July 23 (that's next Thursday!) the expansion includes two new maps: "Suljeva Cliffside" and "Arctower Landing." Both are rooted in locations from the single-player campaign; the former taking place near the Suljeva mining village, the latter in the urban hotzone of Blood Meridian. The pack's release will also usher in the ability to use two more of the campaign mode's weapons in multiplayer -- but only on the new maps. The VC1 Flamethrower will appear for use on Suljeva Cliffside, while Arctower Landing will offer the opportunity to say "I love you" to your enemies using the Boltgun 4400. Looks like the 23rd is gonna be packed with goodies - Wipeout, Shatter and now Killzone!
dwarf Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 That is undoubtedly the best store update ever, not for my wallet though.
Foxfear Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Downloaded the maps Beach Head and Southern Hills I must say the maps are decent, although I like Beach Head more than Southern Hills, but it's kind of dissappointing that so few people play on those maps Oh and are there any volunteers help me get some of my badges?? I would be very grateful
