Choze Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 will join inabit. San Francisco level has really cool scenery. With the ships flying over you and stuff.
dwarf Posted October 26, 2008 Author Posted October 26, 2008 Yeah when I first looked around I was like 'This is insane for online!'

I feel like we should do San Francisco shooting. LOL! I feel exactly the same! I fancy some competitive will have to be later now as watching Portsmouth match...will be back later on though...just prior to that last game we had, came 2nd in a deathmatch and feel like I am really getting into it. will join inabit. San Francisco level has really cool scenery. With the ships flying over you and stuff. Yeah love that level...They are all pretty cool actually, plenty going on makes you feel like you are part of a bigger battle...
dwarf Posted October 26, 2008 Author Posted October 26, 2008 Shall we say 8:00? Get a bit more practise in before we can all show our true colours. Gonna be awesome.
Daft Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Whenever I got to the post game it said I got 0 exp. I saw where I came on the end game screen and I get the exp but I still can't see where I came in detail. Anyone else have this problem? My only worry is that the multiplayer although fun has pretty repetitive objectives. (That isn't as big a problem as it sounds though.) Yeah you did pretty good. I just noticed tht I sound like a spastic online, sorry :S Does no-one want to have a competitive match? I feel like we should do San Francisco shooting. I was pleased with my medical skills. I hate my voice in real life. Online makes it like 10 time worse. Yeah when I first looked around I was like 'This is insane for online!' Yeah, it looks just amazing. Shall we say 8:00? Get a bit more practise in before we can all show our true colours. Gonna be awesome. I'll try and be on.

dwarf Posted October 26, 2008 Author Posted October 26, 2008 Can't wait for the actual game, if this is how good the beta is then the full thing will probably become my favourite FPS game (that isnt too heavily story-focused ala Metroid and HL)

I havn't gotten into an online shooter for a long time...Got into Team Fortress Classic and then 2 but got bored of playing with no friends. So think this could be a success... Plus am interested to see where they take the story.... This could become our Halo...
Daft Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I'm more looking forward to KillZone 2. I prefer the future setting.
Choze Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I'm more looking forward to KillZone 2. I prefer the future setting. Have you played it? Its amazing isnt it.
flameboy Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I'm more looking forward to KillZone 2. I prefer the future setting. see I prefer Resistance's retro world war futuristic take on things to be honest. It's something a bit different. Thought you'd like seeming as how awesome you are at it! We could have done with 2 of you in that last game, too many of us for just 1 medic. You were rinsing the XP though! Think co-op will be really good on this... One bad thing those whiney yanks were doing my head in...That one bollocking cookyman for not putting ammo down properly and then that other one whining medic all the time....sure he thought he was the only one who needed one!

One bad thing those whiney yanks were doing my head in...That one bollocking cookyman for not putting ammo down properly and then that other one whining medic all the time....sure he thought he was the only one who needed one! Near the end people were just screaming medic left and right. There are only so many places I can be at one time...one. (Actually two because I normally shoot of healing stuff at people far off that need it because it takes time to get there.) The Americans were getting annoyed because I wasn't right next to them which was annoying me. I did like it when people said thanks (Mainly you guys). Also I running low on ammo near the end so I had to recharge by shooting and heal at the same time. All got a bit too much in the end. I also got off a load of kills by switching to the gun and also the grenades are so useful. I only wish that melee attacks were much more powerful. Sometimes I am really up against it and just need that extra kick...and it isn't really there. Okay, I love it. :p Being a medic is a lot of fun (except when people split up into lots of groups, then it get a bit tricky). I prefer the look of KillZone because I think it looks more polished and I still feel R2 is lacking something though I can't put my finger on what it is exactly...guess that's just me. Have you played it? Its amazing isnt it. Not played it. Is/was there a beta? I'm guessing I missed it.
Choze Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I think R2 has the better graphics technically but Killzone has the style. They added the water effects in this beta and its quite amazing looking. the skies are really cool too and the shrubs/trees, grass are animated. Textures are lovely and the parallax mapping is some of the best in any game. The floor in Orick at times looks almost as good as Crysis. The water is stunning. Killzone has really cool sense of style though and despite the lack of high res textures and parallax mapping, its very striking. The lights on characters for example are quite cool. The design of the flying turrets/bots is very cool. The whole thing oozes style and the animation has a similar theme. E..g the handgun in KZ looks cooler but the R2 gun reload is more impressive technically(bullets falling out in different directions). Resistance 2 i think is slightly held back by its 1940's art style. Some of the reload animations are really impressive. I think if it had abit more time to be made it could have been much better. Worth pointing out the difference btween betas is impressive (Same goes for Motorstorm demo to actual game). As it is Insomniac make games very quickly and are probably the most productive developer in the business but i cant help to think what they can come up with an extra year.

Yeah, what I really like is how everything is dark but it's dotted with really vibrant colours like the gun sight, the Hellghast's eyes and the explosions (which look phenomenal).

Yep plus the amount dirt that kicks up sometimes in firefights. You can hardly see where are you are shooting lol. Close quarter blind shooting ftw. Not to mention the player viewpoint being treated as a camera. Dirt and blood gets showered on you. Having said that R2 does have alot of colour now. Which some may not like given its darkish theme of survival. But i like it. Look forward to the single player as the game is looking very good now.
flameboy Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I am looking forward to Killzone 2 but lets hope R2 is good enough to keep us distracted until then. Pompey will finished in 10 mins, then likely will be back online...

Close quarter blind shooting ftw. Yeah, it's little things like that which just make KillZone look fantastic. There is a physical presence that I think Resistance totally misses. I am looking forward to Killzone 2 but lets hope R2 is good enough to keep us distracted until then. Pompey will finished in 10 mins, then likely will be back online... I'll be on in about 20 minutes I think.
dwarf Posted October 26, 2008 Author Posted October 26, 2008 Well I agree that Killzone does look very good, the weapons look pretty solid and meaty to use, but I still think there is a bit too much grey in there. As for what Resistance is missing... I think there is something missing too but not sure either. I think it might actually be the weight of the weapons, because when you shoot, your gun doesn't feel all that powerful and so when you kill an enemy it can seem unsatisfying. But hey, it is so much fun when you're on a roll.
