Daniel Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 My girlfriend has been connecting to the internet using wireless but her compter is right next to the router so i suggested using a cable. so i bring one round and plug it in and disable wireless on her computer but it doesnt work on mine i just plugged in the cable and it worked fine. Is there some kind of setting i need to change?
Daniel Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 Lol funny but not very helpful :P its probably some simple solution but i just couldnt get it to work Stupid computers
Sanchez Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 you probably disabled the network interface. Open "my network connections" and right click> enable any that aren't.
Emasher Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 My friend has been having the same problem for the last month or so. I guess I'll pass this on to him.
Shorty Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 Indeed, especially if it's so close to the router, you're not likely to have any significant signal loss. That said, maybe the ethernet card is disabled?
Emasher Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 Even being right next to the router you can sometimes be a bit slower than ethernet.
Guest Jordan Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I've had this issue on my laptop, it turns out its a hardware problem most of the time... Its a case of, the network connection is active, the service is active (for auto detecting network connections). It connects to certain devices, but others it just doesn't have it. In my case, it would connect to my 360 and straight into a switch but it wouldn't work when plugged into a router or into another computer.
