Calling anyone who has a fairly good knowledge quality acoustic guitars! I have a Tanglewood semi-acoustic jumbo, she's a lovely thing but I think it's time I upgraded this Christmas (ie - someone better buy me one lol).

I was thinking along the lines of a Takamine or Martin, Taylors are a bit too dear for me at the minute, but different Martin owners have told me at different times that a guitar between £300 and £900 will have little difference between them, basically you're paying for the quality of the woods, and that it's when you start going over a grand for it you can feel the excellence glow in your fingertips lol

So I'm looking for a guitar between £400 and £600, but I don't know which one would be the best to go for. I'm a fingerpicker mainly, so the action should desirably be as low as possible without decreasing sound quality, but I also play in a band as the rhythm guitarist so it would need to withstand quite a bit of beatin' as well.

Maybe a games forum isn't such a good start for asking about guitar advice, especially acoustic because every tom, dick and harry plays the electric nowadays! But if anyone could lend a hand, please give me a shout, cheers

I can see this turning into a gear thread.....

I have a Takamine, but it's classical. Great for me and I don't have any complaints. It sounds great and crisp and it has taken a few beatings quite well. :heh:

I'm sure we have plenty of guitarists here who'll be willing to help you out.
