KingOfHyrule Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Calling anyone who has a fairly good knowledge quality acoustic guitars! I have a Tanglewood semi-acoustic jumbo, she's a lovely thing but I think it's time I upgraded this Christmas (ie - someone better buy me one lol). I was thinking along the lines of a Takamine or Martin, Taylors are a bit too dear for me at the minute, but different Martin owners have told me at different times that a guitar between £300 and £900 will have little difference between them, basically you're paying for the quality of the woods, and that it's when you start going over a grand for it you can feel the excellence glow in your fingertips lol So I'm looking for a guitar between £400 and £600, but I don't know which one would be the best to go for. I'm a fingerpicker mainly, so the action should desirably be as low as possible without decreasing sound quality, but I also play in a band as the rhythm guitarist so it would need to withstand quite a bit of beatin' as well. Maybe a games forum isn't such a good start for asking about guitar advice, especially acoustic because every tom, dick and harry plays the electric nowadays! But if anyone could lend a hand, please give me a shout, cheers
ShavenWolf Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 The Takamine EG560CBS is a superb acoustic guitar, especially for the price. The guitarist in my band uses one, it does the job really well, is comfortable to play and the pickups pick up the bottom end really well. And they're only £319 from here http://www.sheehans.com/products.asp?prod=takamine-acoustic-guitars&page=agtr
#1cubeplayer Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 I can see this turning into a gear thread..... I have a Takamine, but it's classical. Great for me and I don't have any complaints. It sounds great and crisp and it has taken a few beatings quite well. I'm sure we have plenty of guitarists here who'll be willing to help you out.
Mr_Odwin Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Mine is blue and it's pretty. I just went into a shop and played around with lots of them until I found one that I liked.
Kurtle Squad Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Hehe...I want a bass for Christmas. It's only gonna be a cheap-arse one (£100-£150) n my best mate said he'd teach me stuff n that cos i really wanna learn.
AshMat Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 I play drums.... I can play a little guitar, mostly bass because its easy. Doesnt always sound rite on a classical guitar though. I can play the piano quite well..
KingOfHyrule Posted November 10, 2005 Author Posted November 10, 2005 Spotted a gem of a Martin guitar - does anyone own this? If so, how would you rate it? Martin DCX1RE
