Give me the money for one and i'll happily snap it up then.

I spent long enough saving up for my own.

It's worth it though. Bioshock on a nice big widscreen HDTV is so much better than a shitty 14" CRT.

A DVD Wii? Err... what's the point? Seriously, I thought that Nintendo said that they are only a videogames company, and stated that they wouldn't include DVD players and the like in their consoles.

I admit, I don't have a DVD player, so I use my 360, but I didn't but it just for DVD's, I bought it for the games! My DVD player broke not long after I got my 360, so it was more of a minor convenience tbh. I am thinking of getting a DVD player soon though, as a region free player would be quite useful to me. The price of DVD players has fallen through the floor anyway, so there's no need for Nintendo to do this.

The question is, are Nintendo starting to become sell-outs?

did ye know that vhs only beat betamax because the porn industry couln't support betamax. don't know the details but that's my understanding.....thats why psp failed basically:)

Well, that was one of the reasons I guess. Plus Sony aren't allowing the production of porn movies on Blu-Ray. So will the same happen again here? :heh:

The only thing that could make the DVD Wii worthwile is if they provided a digital AV out, with an upscale chip, so that the Wii could connect to TVs with DVI or HDMI cables for sublime picture quality. That is very unlikely, however, and would probably make for a €300 Wii.

Very true

And it's shite and breaks easily. And no-one wants to watch a full length movie on a psp.

oh and because of that! lol

If HD DVD ends up with 100% of the porn then that could be a deciding factor.

The GC was a pure gaming machine, and that was Nintendos policy back in those days. The Wii is more of a "gadget", with internet and stuff. It's more cool so to speak.

It's inconvenient to have a gazilion different machines connected to your TV. The Wii is obsoleting many older consoles via backward compatibility and the VC. It enables you to be a gamer, without fearing that your girlfriend, friends or whatever will think you're a nerd. Imagine having just ONE machine connected to your TV, that does everything. Personally I'd love to see some kind of "Media Wii", that plays DVD's and CD's, with home cinema speakers...

I thought Nintendo's policy was always to make a Family console...

Unlikely man. I bought the Panasonic Q expecting that the optical output (for dolby digital) could be used with GC games, but nope, just for the DVD player. Infact the whole system was ike a DVD player and Gamecube seperate but in one machine. For exampe, you didn't get the blue glow when playing a DVD as you would a GC game.
